A police officer has been charged after being accused of "putting his hands around the throat" of a 14-year-old girl in Basildon.
For fun, or in accordance with his job?
PC Thomas White, 30, will appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court on October 21, 2024, charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH), relating to the officer’s use of force on the child. This comes after an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The investigation relates to an incident in Basildon on March 27, 2024, when a child was arrested by PC White.
During the arrest it is alleged that the officer used PAVA spray on the child, and then later at hospital it is alleged that excessive force was used by the officer when he struck the child with his knee and put his hands around their throat.
Just imagine what this little hellion must have been like, to warrant this?
Melanie Williams, defending, told the court: ‘The defendant will be saying he was acting in self-defence, and in defence of the victim who was self-harming at the time, and the public.’
He is next due to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on 18 November.
Should have let her. But then, no doubt he'd be put on trial for that, too...

They don't get prosecuted for doing nothing or even aiding a death.
A few years ago a child was drowning in a pool and Plod stopped people going in to rescue them. He didn't get prosecuted. I was surprised that people meekly obeyed him and that was my first real confirmation that we have turned into a nation of wusses.

Chavy scrot or Plod - who to believe? Problem is that ACAB so what used to be an easier choice is now much more difficult.
During my time in a Child Protection Team in my local Police force, I used to deal with teenaged girls who could have starred in "The Exorcist". Foul mouthed, knife wielding, life threatening, until they were disarmed and put into a Home Office approved restraining hold. Then, they become "Daddy's scared little girl" who is being treated unfairly. The fun bit starts when they appear in court wearing a pristine school uniform - pristine because the defence brief has told the parents to buy her something she has spent years refusing to wear.
Don't forget that the media can be very selective when reporting on such incidents.
