I used to live on a narrowboat and when down by London I was told that the local Carp population in the old gravel pits were being caught and eaten by central european migrants. This had been witnessed by numerous locals. It would not at all surprise me that the swans were now being regarded as free food by the latest group of enrichers.

I was told as a child that a swan could break your arm. Perhaps the police should check local A+E's for inpatients with damaged limbs as a clue?

It's an old wives tale. Or perhaps poor nutrition gave us fragile bones in olden times?
