What Your Taxes Pay For…

A scheme warning people with a lung condition about weather which could have an effect on them has cut hospital admissions for the problem by a fifth.

The Met Office alerts tell people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) when cold weather is due.
So, we have people unable to look up the weather for themselves, but who wait to be phoned and told about it by other people (people whose salaries are paid by our taxes)?

Welcome to Dumbed Down Britain, 2008…

My dad has it, and also knows how to look up the weather forecast on the internet. He can watch it on tv too, for that matter.

So where does it stop? I have asthma, so should I get a warning when pollution levels are high (suppose that should apply to my dad too, although not the other way round - I definitely suffer symptoms LESS in cold weather)?

Oh noes, I'm being discriminated against!!! Someone please give me a cuddle. And some compensation might be nice, too.

Your father is dangerously self-reliant!

We aren't breeding people like that anymore, more's the pity...
