Darius Antoine, 23, from Hackney, stabbed a City banker and a diplomat in a "shocking and violent" attack, Southwark Crown Court heard. So much for knife crime being a teenage thing...
The judge said it was "a lottery" whether the victims suffered fatal injuries or not adding that Antoine was lucky that both men made full recoveries.Because if they hadn't, he might have got 7 years, instead of 6....

Julia- The BBC report you link to is strangely reticent about Mr Antoine's occupation- which is usually stated in adult court reports.
Would that be because, were he to be a 23 year old unemployed man from 'deprived Hackney', apprehended while driving a BMW around the West End in the early hours, readers might draw 'inappropriate' conclusions ?
What is it with black people and knives?
Hang him. Or shoot him, doesn't matter.
When the only thing that stands between a man and murder charges is the skill of the surgeon, it's always best to be on the safe side.
Just in case others don't have the stomach, I'll do it, if you insist.

Perhaps, dare I say it... perhaps they are 'different' to Whites, or Orientals, for example?

He's probably a social worker. Or a care assistant. Or an unemployed art critic.

Comment is free on this site; you can say what you want. That is what I like about it. While I do't want to cast further asperstions about Mr Antoine, it's possible that he was a violent drug dealing scumbag who has little regret for his actions except for the consequcenes to himself. I think that there would be a queue longer than the one outside Hackney Benefits Office to 'pull the lever'. People wo carry knives, for what ever reason, deserve an immediate and lenghty prison sentence. With no possibility of early release for 'being good'. This just further entrenches the view that they are entitled to reward for what should be normal behaviour.
I despair at times.
Apologies for the spelling :) Eating a bacon sandwich whilst typing appears to be beyond my small capabilities.
