You’re Crap At Your Job! Have More Money!

The Met Office’s seasonal forecasts are worthless and failed to help Britain prepare for the coldest start to winter in 100 years, MPs said yesterday.
Can’t see anyone arguing against that!
But despite giving a damning verdict on its forecasting, the Commons transport committee urged the Government to give the Met Office an extra £10million in funding.
Wha…?

Of course, it’s so they can be better prepared and get it right next time!
The report called it ‘a small price to pay... given the cost to the UK economy of transport disruptions due to severe winter weather’.
Fine. OK. ‘Spend to save’, and all that…

As long as, if they screw it up again, we disband the lot of ‘em, as not fit for purpose.

Last chances. I’m in favour of them!

It's the cavalier splashing about of taxpayers' money which galls, is it not?

At a time when the cost of living is rising by the week ?

When we, the public are being expected to suck-up the "mistakes" made by feckless Politicians & greedy Bankers ?

One could buy a hell of a lot of Seaweed with that sort of Taxpayer's hard-earned ..

There was a time when the tories were in favour of things like competative tendering, etc.

As it is they are carrying on like the Met Office are not only the only source weather forecasting but weather itself! I'm sure the likes of Joe Bastardi could provide a forecast at a fraction of the price and it might be, you know, right?

For short term forecasts I use Meteogroup, far more reliable than Mr Fish and his ilk.

I do believe it was the Meteorologists' Union which first insisted upon wild speculation from its members. This ensured entertainment, a rich diversity of opinion and at least one correct forecast every day.

As for the millions - it speaks for itself that reading chicken entrails must be a highly skilled and well paid job, otherwise any Medicine Man would do it for beans.

The following method of weather forecasting was scientifically proven to give around an 82% chance of correctly predicting the weather over the next 36 hours, compared to the Met's (supposed) 86% hit rate:

The weather tomorrow will be largely similar to the weather today.

The above method does not cost millions though, so obviously it's no use to politicians.

Last I heard there was a large 'consensus' at the Met over Global Warming.

Sooo, if they stopped arsing around pandering to the ecoloons and buttering up assorted AGW idiots they might have more time to tell it like it is.

To help them, here is tomorrow's weather forecast. Free:

Changeable.

It most certainly is!

They might indeed.
