Learning To Speak The Language…

Celebrity chef Momma Cherri claims she will work with the community to make sure her new restaurant is a success.
Eh..?

Don’t ‘diners’ rather than ‘the community’ make a restaurant a success?
The TV star, catapulted to fame by Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, said the new restaurant will double up as a community centre.

Cherri, real name Charita Jones, said although she had been left “poor” after the closure of the Big House, she didn’t need money to make her happy.

She added: “My whole ethos is about giving back to the community. I know what it is like to be poor. I am still poor, but I am rich in heart.

“It is about being able to be poor and not bitter, and to learn that if you work within the community, you do not need riches to be happy.”
Ah, I see.

That’s how you get a new planning application past the council these days, despite the failure of your last one. And some handy free publicity for your new venture.

But you could have sprinkled a few mentions of ‘social responsibility’ in there too. It’s this year’s new buzz word.

Remember it if this business goes under like the last one…

I doubt that this new venture will last very long either. That property has been host to a series of bars for at least 20 years. None last that long (even the website Momma Cherri has set up names two other previous occupants) so why hers would be any different is beyond me.

"I doubt that this new venture will last very long either."

That's the prevailing opinion in the comments to that article too.

I don't want to 'piss on her chips' either literally or figuratively, but one road away is Day's Oriental Buffet.
£13.99 per adult and half price for kids under 140 cm. Eat as much as you want and there is a huge range of oriental food to choose from....
