There Really IS Truth In Advertising!

The advert, on the Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospital's website, invited applications for a trainee anaesthetist.
But it concluded by stating: "Usual rubbish about equal opportunities employer etc".
SNORK!

Of course, I can see why this happened. Someone had a job template with a placeholder text which they didn’t bother to remove before publication (a common problem, even in the MSM).

The amusing thing is the horrified way the NHS PR people scrambled to assure everyone who cares (who really does care, anyway?) that this wasn’t just that sort of mishap:
A trust spokeswoman said: "The wording on this advert in no way reflects the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust's position in relation to equal opportunities, to which it is fully committed.

"The trust is conscious of its duty to promote equality and is a Stonewall Diversity Champion employer.

"The trust will be conducting an investigation into this incident to ensure that this cannot happen again."
Should be quite simple, then. Stop changing the wording of your usual rubbish about equal opportunities like you change your socks, and people will have no need to put in a placeholder…

In this day and age no employer should emphasise that they are "fully committed to equal opportunities", "promoting equality" or a "Stonewall Diversity Champion employer". These are things we should all take for granted by now.

All this really does is expose the rampant hypocrisy in selling the state's beliefs and morals.

The depth of grovelling from the Trust raises question as to why they felt it necessary. Was it fear of offending people or fear of the penalty for doing so. What exactly are they afraid of ?

Snork? Only snork? This is MEGASNORK territory.

Good to see what the people who put this stuff together are really thinking. It's a ray of hope. And, being the NHS, you can be sure that no-one will be sacked, although I can see a mandatory diversity training course in someone's very near future. That, and some time in Siberia being 'enlightened'.

Nearly wet myself!

Nobody believes it. Nobody applies it the way it apparently should be. It is PC verbiage of zero value. It costs money because it takes up space.

I 'demand' the NHS chooses the best candidate for the job.

Dear Julia,

The jobsworths here give me the needle with constant short cuts. They think it's a gas to flout policy with their insincerity but I preach about it until I am numb.

Yours,
Blah blah

While it is genuinely funny, it is also genuinely serious.

Forcing people to recite this cant is on a par with the demand for empty religious ritual phrases spouted by medieval Christians (and modern day Muslims). It's facile to say people don't believe it and it has no effect - it does have an effect because it sets a cultural tone.

It's fine (and apropriate) to laugh at tags like 'Stonewall diversity champion' or whatever, but who can deny that the enforcement of this observance has helped elevate homosexuals to the status of protected species in recent years?

In the case of the NHS and other government bodies it also costs money - very serious amounts of money when you include the full panoply of 'diversity' idiocy that it involves. We are forced to pay for this absurdity and it absorbs huge sums that could be spent on providing the services we are supposed to be getting.

Mocking it is fine but we also need to be push back hard against this cultural fascism.

'The usual rubbish, etc' lines are merely added, like a socialist knee-jerk reaction, to these ads. No one reads the statement because it has to be there. Thus the 'well-meaning' words become invisible to the real world.

Meaningless clap trap, in the end, there to satisfy the whims of the hard-of-thinking.

SNORK indeed

I love it! At least one person working for the No Help Service is prepared to treat this kind of fatuous nonsense with the contempt it deserves.

Exactly!

"Good to see what the people who put this stuff together are really thinking. It's a ray of hope."

Only a small one.

"Forcing people to recite this cant is on a par with the demand for empty religious ritual phrases spouted by medieval Christians..."

Yup, and on some it will have the opposite effect. But on most, it will become ingrained.

"To be a Stonewall Diversity Champion, how much taxpayers money to they have to give to Stonewall?"

Damned good question!
