Purveyor Of Woo Insists Woo Far More Prevalent Than Previously Thought…

Almost half the population of Britain could be suffering from food intolerance resulting in weight gain, diabetes and other complications.
Crumbs! (Apologies to any wheat intolerant readers)…

So, which set of scientific geniuses has come to this conclusion then?

Oh:
Figures released by Allergy UK, a charity set up to help the millions of people who suffer from food sensitivity, estimate that 45 per of the country's population is affected by the condition.
Well, they would. Wouldn’t they?

What sort of people are these?

Well, here’s a classic stable, reasonable individual:
"There's been a 10 fold increase in people with food intolerances in the UK in the last 25 years," said Cyndi O'Meara, an expert nutritionist and author of "Changing Habits, Changing Lives Cook Book."

"A big part of the problem is that we are assaulting our children with chemicals because the food that we are feeding them isn't real anymore, it's just a bunch of food additives, flavourings and colourings.

"If it's not margarine then it is modified milk, artificial sweeteners, and manmade sugars all of this has been put into the diet over the last 25 years which has resulted in hyper sensitive immune systems that react to everything a person eats."
Has there, Cyndi-with-a-y? Has there really?

Or have people like you simply grown fat (ho, ho) on the proceeds of ‘diagnosing’ this and writing about it?

I'm sure she's having an 80's flashback.
Didn't we get rid of all the nasty e-numbers and MSG back then.
Which is why orange squash tastes so insipid these days and I've never been able to eat Hienz Tomato soup since they removed the MSG, it's just so bland.

There's more on Cyndi here:

Not your typical nutritionist, Cyndi disagrees with low-fat, low-calorie diets, believes chocolate can be good for you and thinks cheating and eating yummy food is an important part of a well-balanced diet. Cyndi must be doing something right because she maintains a healthy weight and has never (in her whole life!) taken an antibiotic, pain-killer or any other form of medication.

If you don't want to punch her after reading that, you will when you check out the video, which opens - no exaggeration, here - with one of the all-time great jingles...

No pathogen would be able to get close surrounded as she is by an impenentrable glow of smug self righteousness.

Interesting, is it not, that when an increase is detected in some "lifestyle variable", e.g. alcoholism, obesity, ADHD, we are warned incessanly by the Gov of the mortal peril we are all in. However, when a change is detected in something truly serious, e.g. incidence of autistic spectrum disorders, illiteracy, criminality, we are told it is all due to changes in the way things are measured.

Just sayin' is all.

Well I can't eat Cheese. So I don't! I don't stop anybody else eating the stuff and my friends are very understanding about it (and enjoy the cheese I buy, knowing that they like it anyway).

Well, her web page and video certainly harks back at least that far...

"If you don't want to punch her after reading that, you will when you check out the video..."

Production values FTW!

Indeed! Odd, that...

You'll never get your Righteous badge that way... ;)
