It was a typical sunny half-term morning in the peaceful Georgian former coal-mining port.Oh, it was only then that he lost all semblence of humanity? Silly me. I was thinking it was when he shot someone over cab fares...
Bird wound down the front window of his taxi and according to witnesses blasted a shotgun in the face of cab driver Darren Rewcastle, aged in his 30s, as he walked to a cafe.
Mr Rewcastle was one of those he blamed for 'touting' for fares.
He then appears to have lost all semblance of humanity and set about taking as many lives as he could.
For better and more honest analysis than you'll find in the MSM, read Charlotte, Anna or B&D.
For an indepth look at how the police see this, read Inspector Gadget or HogDay.
For a glimpse into the future to see how the government might handle it, read Ross or NorthNorthWester.

Now that we see the harm they can so easily cause, I really do think it is about time we cracked down and properly regulated ... cabbies.
Where was the helicopter with missiles?
The incident commander's (GOLD) log will make interesting reading come the inquests.
What a terrible occurrence words aren't enough.
As for routinely arming the police? No way, not at this time.
Failing that, if your preferred reason for all crime is sex, pop over to the Express
