If They Repeatedly Foul Their Own Nest…

…just let them live in it!
A traveller site has 24-hour security at a cost of £85,000 a year to the taxpayer.
No, not to protect them from the wrath of those aggressive settled people who want to drive them out, as you might think if you only read the 'Guardian' or 'Independent':
Brighton and Hove City Council said they pay for security guards to man the dedicated Horsdean facility to prevent travellers from antisocial behaviour.
/facepalm
The local authority, which must cut its 2011/12 budget by £34 million, claims it was forced into the move after travellers racked up bills of tens of thousands of pounds damaging the site on the outskirts of the city.
I suppose no-one's thinking of restitution? Those caravans are pretty valuable, as are the shiny new 4x4s they all seem to have. And Channel 4's documentary series has shown they aren't exactly living in poverty.
It is a portion of nearly £250,000 that has been spent on monitoring and clearing up after the traveller communities in the city in the past 12 months.
We can't afford this any more, since Labour's disastrous handling of the finances. Time to stop.

They might not be, but the comments are often where you find it...
