Months earlier, unemployed Slater, from Burnley, had been shown leniency by a judge who handed her a suspended prison term after claiming she had stabbed her ex-boyfriend in self-defence after months of domestic abuse.Whoops!
Still, indeterminate sentence. She won't be getting out in a hurry, right?
She must serve three and a half years before the parole board can consider if she is safe to be released.Oh...
Still, no doubt even her brief was hard pressed to come up with mitigation for this?
In mitigation, defence counsel Andrew Nuttall said she had suffered violence from certain men. She did not start the violence on the night of the latest offences, but 'reacted' to it.
The barrister said 'In all other respects she is a very decent human being indeed.
'It's tragic that these men were injured in the way that they were and it's tragic this lady should be before the courts and going to prison for a long time, ultimately because of her abuse of alcohol.'Yes, it's a complete tragedy all round. Hope you didn't do anything to upset her when you discussed her plea? I don't think those wigs are all that padded...

What a waste of DNA and everything else. New Addington needs her.....nah not really.
Yet another oxygen thief for these decaying Septic Isles.
So if I'm an alcoholic at a party, pissed to the eyeballs and a woman (for whatever reason) says something like "All men are pigs" I can assault her with whatever piece of cutlery, crockery or household item happens to be nearest to hand and then use the fact I'm a long term alky and "she started it" as mitigation and receive a very truncated sentence.
It is not tragic that this woman is before the courts - what is tragic is that she is not going away for much much longer as would a man who had behaved in the same appalling way.

I'm going to go with 'No, expect the full weight of the law' on that one!
