What About Us, Judge? Can We Complain Instead?

Sentencing, Judge Jonathan Gibson said the public was concerned about such behaviour at pubs.

He told Ogilvie she had behaved in a terrible way and continued: “Given your previous convictions, you could really have no complaint if I sent you immediately to custody.”
Before, of course, giving her no reason for complaint…

"...ordered to pay £150 compensation" So that is the value of being glassed on the head?
I suppose he could try the civil courts but the Unterdamen will obviously have no income.

And you see this sort of dovetails into why I keep banging on about things like the guys jailed for banging a schoolgirl. Over the past couple of decades, the police and justice system have been remodelled as a mutaween, a moral police force. The result is that actual crimes like this one, crimes of violence, property theft and so on, are let off with a slap on the wrist, while crimes against the New Moral Code are pursued with absolute vicar.

Burgle away, beat people up (so long as they are not members of Protected Groups), steal and wreck a hundred cars, do what you like, and you'll get it easy. Mutter a racist utterance, be a little unkind to a homosexual, have unapproved of sex, and there is no hiding place.

Remember that sad old former paedo-activist jailed indefinitely for having some Japanese cartoons and "dating" games? That's what the law cares about now, not somebody smashing you over the head with a bottle. That's just a bit of high-spirited hijinks, you naughty girl, lolz.

'Ogilvie'
Is that a word. How do you pronounce it?

And. Well said Ian B.

Precisely.

Or, if he does get granted compensation, it'll be at a rate that means he'll be 103 before it is paid...

I do kind of see your point, yes!

Spot on.

A work colleague got in a contretemps in a pub and threw a glass which hit a guy on the back of the head. The victim left the country without making any statements or laying charges.

The guy was charged using CCTV evidence and the evidence of witnesses that he had muttered "Polish Tw@t".

Straight to prison for 12 months for racially motivated attack, criminal record, criminal training in nick, life ruined (prat).
