‘Certainly Not Your Typical Politician…’

If Drippy Dave needs some lessons in grown-up swearing, the ideal person to give him some advice may be close to hand:
In June, News Shopper asked all of the 14 MPs on its patch a series of questions about what they were doing over their 83-day summer recess.

All but one of them answered the simple questions, questions designed to draw out their opinions on the length of the break, especially after the expenses scandal, but which were also a little bit of fun.

They all entered into the spirit of it, giving some serious and some humourous answers to our light-hearted questions.
Oh, you can guess what’s coming next, can’t you…?
But one MP failed to see the funny side.

Gravesham’s Adam Holloway –— clearly agitated at the media having the temerity to want to tell his constituents how he planned to spend his three-month summer break –— refused to answer our questions.
Which he’s entitled to do. But it makes him look a bit of a plum, doesn’t it, if all the others haven’t?

Still, it seems Adam felt a mere refusal didn’t make him quite enough of a plum…
Instead, he told us he was spending 69 days in Hawaii, before swearing at our reporter Dan Keel and hanging up.
Whoops!

Here’s the full transcript:
DAN: Hi it's Dan from the News Shopper newspaper. I was just wondering if you received my email about MP holidays?
HOLLOWAY: Ah the online lynch mob. Why don't you get on with doing some proper journalism.

DAN: So you won't be answering any of my questions?

HOLLOWAY: Yeah I will answer them - I will be going to Hawaii for 69 days - now f*ck off.

Hangs up
Well, that went well…

Still, if he’s a good MP, and not known for this sort of thing, surely this can be put down to a momentary abberati..

Oh:
By any measure, 69 days is a long holiday and must be costing a pretty penny.

Mind you, our Adam looks after the pennies. This is, after all, the man who claimed back £1.95 for two light bulbs for his second home.
What a charming specimen.

Gravesham Conservatives might want to think about rewording their blurb on him at their website:
We are pleased to introduce Adam Holloway our Member of Parliament. Adam is certainly not your typical politician. On this site you can read about the work Adam is doing on Health, Education, Older People, Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour, Immigration, Post Office Closures, and Europe in his quarterly Newsletters.
Oh, I don’t know, Gravesham Conservatives.

He’s rude, chippy, arrogant, feels he’s owed a living by the long-suffering taxpayer and is dim enough to get into a battle with the local paper who gleefully publish his conversation, as they are quite entitled to do.

In what way is he not a typical politician..?

I'm proud: so proud, as a fellow conservative to be following [however feebly and badly] in the mighty footsteps of Moses, Socrates, Thomas Hobbes, Edmund Burke, Michael Oakshott...and now Adam Holloway.

It brings a tear to my eye, and on the bright side, ladies present and all that at least he's not a tw*t.

Mostly.
