Well, 50% Accuracy Isn't Bad I Suppose...

A prolific offender who has caused misery for North Yorkshire residents has been named and shamed by police.
Named he certainly has been (on posters around the town - wonder how long they'll stay up in the face of progressives armed with the Human Rights Act?) but shamed?

Is there any indication he's capable of this?
On Friday December 3, Pople was issued with an interim anti-social behaviour order preventing him from visiting certain areas of the town, associating with certain people and behaving in an anti-social manner.

His order took effect on Thursday, December 16, when he was released from prison after serving a jail sentence for burglary.

Police said last time Pople left prison he reoffended immediately by setting fire to a bench.

He has also been caught defecating in a school fountain and sleeping in the grounds of another local school.
Doesn't look like it, does it?

How times change, the only fountains at my school were the drinking fountains.

Or did he bring a step ladder?

This is him.

An earlier Scarborough Evening News story gives a longer, but slightly politer, list of offences.

The most worrying is that he had to be given an order not to approach his parents' house but otherwise it looks like a sad account of alky with poor grasp of reality and tendency to nick stuff when he's not breaking it.

There's a whiff of pity about the story; his brain is self-fried.

Sadly it appears from the comments on the SEN page that Scarborough has a full contingent of idiotic hand wringing "he's not to blame"-ers queuing up to excuse his actions.

How can you get an asbo that prevents you acting in an anti social manner?

You're not supposed to do that anyway???

'Sad account of alky with poor grasp of reality and tendency to nick stuff'. This rings true and he appears to be someone that should be in the NHS mental health system, but it boils down to the fact that 'The Police' have to deal with what has been allowed to walk the street and they really only have the power to arrest the offenders and put them up before the Court.
The real scandal is that there will be at least one such offender in every town and probably another half dozen that are nearly as bad. They are a tremendous drain on Police and Court resources.

Same here!

"There's a whiff of pity about the story; his brain is self-fried."

Indeed. But as Blueknight points out, these people get endlessly recycled through the CJS because there's no other way of dealing with them.

"How can you get an asbo that prevents you acting in an anti social manner?"

Best not to wonder about the weird and wonderful world of ASBOs...

There's one just like him where I live. Us locals clear up after his drug fuelled `eccentricites`, the litter, damage, the shunning of help or a friendly word etc, but the threats of violence and his anti social attitude are less easy to erase. His family are ok though. They have an injunction to keep him away from their home (NIMBY as per Woman on a Raft's example - hey, we have a pattern here!) so I wonder if the entire village can apply for one? Or is that mob rule/vigilantism? I suppose the hope is that, in a quiet place like this, he will probably quadruple the crime rate which might upset someone at PHQ. To stand out like a bulldogs bollocks in Scarborough, he must really be a p.i.t.a. Happy New Year!
