Police officers are trying to stamp out booze-fuelled crime… by meeting members of the public in an off-licence.Police officers?
What police officers?
PCSOs Islamiat Onigbanjo and Lorraine Entwhistle are holding public surgeries at Bargain Booze in Whitworth Road in response to complaints about drink-fuelled anti-social behaviour in Shawclough and Healey.PCSOs are NOT ‘police officers’. Can we have some accuracy here?
PCSO Onigbanjo said: "We could go to other places to hold the surgeries like church halls or community centres.I’m saying nothing!
"But on the beat that we're covering one of the main issues is youths causing annoyance because of booze.
"So we thought what if we take the mountain to Mohammed?
"The first time we held a surgery there a lot of youths got a big surprise. If you really were listening to what they were saying, you’d have resigned, to be replaced by a real police officer…
"When they came into the store the staff automatically requested ID, if they didn't have it they had to go elsewhere.
"It's to show residents that we are listening to what they're saying."

So, plastic spastic wanabee copper Duelingbanjo thinks that is "solving" the problem does it?
Or was Plastic spastic wanabee copper Plinkingguitar at the next shop along?
Well, this is the job of PCSOs. They're not police. They're mutaween.
QUOTE from Rochdale Observer //PCSO Onigbanjo said:"So we thought what if we take the mountain to Mohammed? /.../

That rates a Chortle.
@Ian B //They're mutaween.//
And that rates another.
Just do as I do .. and totally ignore the tossers ..
Cross the road, if you see one approaching ..
Don't make eye contact with them ..
Don't respond if they speak to you ..
With any luck, given the budgetary cuts which the Police are being forced to make, we'll see the back of them fairly soon anyway..
Unlike "Warranted" Police Officers, PCSO's can be made redundant (without a change in Legislation being required) & they haven't been in existence long enough for any pension rights to have accrued ..
Onisbanjo?/....so no bike as yet.
@ haddock
"Just do as I do .." That will be post lobotomy for most.
The Peelian Compact is gone, never to be restored this side of the Last Trump.
It used to be just hard-core bad un's who'd be cagey about the fact they had relatives in the filth. Now it's solid never-hurt-a-fly middle class people like me. And one of 'em was a Chief Super! Bloody Hell. What have we done?
Julia, please stop it, i can't take anymore...I really can't. This and your next couple about the old bill have made my BP shoot up. Despite some of the comments there really are a lot of really hardworking, committed police officers still out there banging their heads against an ever thicker brick wall and having to deal with the constant, seemingly never ending bollocks of which this is a prime example. The picture of the PCSOs sums it all up and we can all see why PCSos were introduced - Post Macpherson quotas - nothing else but they are the tip of a huuuuge iceberg of waste, human and financial that the UK police Forces have had to put up with over the last 15 years, It is a fucking disgrace. Another example of our police service showing that they are BUSY DOING NOTHING1
Haloperidol for this patient, Nurse and you had better bring the genital cuff - it's PC Ranter again.
@ Anon - you've been banging on your pots again haven't you Ruprecht? Now don't take the cork off the fork hmmmmmm?

Quite!

Heh!
"With any luck, given the budgetary cuts which the Police are being forced to make, we'll see the back of them fairly soon anyway.."
I'd like to think so, but as they are cheaper than proper coppers, we may well see more.
"The Peelian Compact is gone, never to be restored this side of the Last Trump."
Sadly, you may be right. I see no chance of the coalition looking to reverse any of the changes made by their predecessors.
"Despite some of the comments there really are a lot of really hardworking, committed police officers still out there banging their heads against an ever thicker brick wall..."
Indeed, I do wonder how they manage it. I wouldn't blame them for upping sticks and moving to the colonies.
