Oh, Yazza, How Can You Be So Naïve?

As a teenager, I was obsessed with Nahida, a schoolfriend – so fair, so smooth, with high cheekbones, sensuous lips and light brown eyes. I wanted her to fall down and scar her face forever.
Lovely admission, Yazza!

The rest is a stereotypical rant about how the fashion industry is the font of all evil, and yet Yazza seems curiously naïve about the nature of politicians:
Meanwhile, Sarah Brown dreamt up her perfect dinner-party guests: Aung San Suu Kyi, Graca Machel and, among others, Naomi Campbell, the alleged recipient of uncut diamonds from deposed Liberian president Charles Taylor, whose war crime trial has just ended.
Yes, and?
The Browns promote virtuous people and projects worldwide. How do they reconcile that with indulging a spoilt woman known for a good body and temper tantrums, some quite violent?
Gosh, dunno, Yazza. Could it be that they are massive hypocrites?

Who’d a thunk it, eh?

Who is Yazza? Never heard of her/him.

This would appear to be a classic example of Steve Sailers's iron law of female opinion journalism:

The most heartfelt articles by female journalists tend to be demands that social values be overturned in order that, Come the Revolution, the journalist herself will be considered hotter-looking.

I'll give you bonus points for the umlaut over the ï.

Also, what Anon says.

I think this is actually one of Yazza's better efforts- although Anon 14.15 is right, Sailer's law is definitely applicable here !

It's not an umlaut, it's a diæresis or, if you're going to be really fussy, a trema.

Do I get a bonus point for being a pedant, plus an extra smart-arse point for using a ligature for 'æ'?

The Brown's promote virtuous people? I think that answers itself.

Aung San Suu Kyi

I thought that was a dish, not a person.

Obviously, this one slipped through the net ..

Sooo... let me get this straight. Yazza it seems had a crush on Nahida (who I presume was as equally female) but wanted the young lady to be disfigured and maybe thus avoid facing up to her deep-rooted feelings for another, um, lady?

I think we need to know more.

Heck of a wide mesh then, if Yazzer slipped through.

So many of her columns contain what appear to be convenient lies.
I reckon Nahida only ever existed in her imagination and the comment at 18.17 is bang on the money.....

One sentence in and I was thinking lesbian confession time - at last Yazza's vomited up something worth reading.

But no, she's not that interesting and just wants harm to the prettier girl (which would be about 99.9% of any random group of women on earth).

All this does is to confirm what a piece of work she is.

Never heard of Yasmin Alibhai-Brown? You're lucky! ;)

"This would appear to be a classic example of Steve Sailers's iron law of female opinion journalism..."

Heh! Indeed.

"I'll give you bonus points for the umlaut over the ï."

I can't take 'em, Chrome puts it in for me.

"I think we need to know more."

I'm with Capn Haddock there! *shudder*

It's amazing that she always has a convenient anecdote, no matter what the subject, isn't it?

Stop taunting FT, Mark. Umlaut is German and reserved for certain vowels exclusive of 'i'.

I won't look her up as I fear the mere reading of her name is already slowly turning me into a newt, but by the sound of her she seems to have picked the best country to spout her views from.

She writes for a paper that has a "Life & Style section which, in turn, has a "Fashion" section. I expect she'll still cash the cheque. regardless.

I know I'm making a generalisation here, but in my experience this is one of the major differences between the sexes.

Men will tolerate someone they don't like and be civil at best in company, but women will bitch and slag off another woman, then as she walks in the room they speak to each other as if it were a long lost friend.

Your average woman has more faces than the town hall clock.

A woman has excellent ears for flattery, insult and mischief, Budvar. To most other things she is profoundly deaf.

Indeed! I suppose we might as well take it as a compliment...

" I expect she'll still cash the cheque. regardless."

Count on it!
