Even More Curious…

A hit-and-run motorist who fled the scene of a fatal collision with a 22-month-old toddler walked free from court after the victim’s mother would not testify.
/facepalm
Gurpal Khangura, 34, hit two-year-old Aashir Zeeshan as the boy crossed Salisbury Road, Barking, to reach his mother Sumaira.

The child was hurled up to 16 metres by the impact with the car and later died of head injuries.
OK, the child shouldn’t have been in the road, but this is the best they can do?
Judge Simon Wilkinson said the “exceptional” circumstances allowed him to pass a three-month prison sentence suspended for 12 months.
He said that Khangura had been aware he had hit a small child, but only drove off after he knew that the boy was being looked after.
Oh. That’s ok then…
Earlier this month the same court heard Aashir’s mother Sumaira, 25, was due to give key evidence about the speed Khangura was travelling at when he hit the toddler.
But it emerged she is now heavily pregnant, may be abroad and is not willing to give evidence.
‘May be abroad’..?

Very odd. Very odd indeed…

Now there are some names to conjure with...although I don't think I could spell them.

Two legal systems now, or probably more.

No justice though.

'Two legal systems now, or probably more.'

Dead right.

After one thousand majestic years, Britain is no longer a nation.

Sorry for the family's loss, but here we go again. Britain, 2011...

Furriner drives badly, hits another Furriner, but feeble-minded Brits will sort it out. Or will if any furriner involved can be ar*ed to help.

Could I possibly be right in suspecting that some sort of "deal" has been done here ?

And that she "may be abroad" precisely so that she can't give evidence ?

Ahh, the wonders of 'community leaders' and their 'advice'.

Who cares that she won't appear? A child is dead, a man has admitted guilt. Extradition, anyone?

I'm sick of this blatant racism. If a white man had ran over a Pakistani child, oh, then we'd see a very different approach. God forbid that the white man had 'right-wing, nationalist tendencies', that he was pictured having a beer at football match, under a St George flag, that he had ever expressed a dislike of mass-immigration.

Two tier justice: Brown skin good - white skin bad.

I think Khangura might be Sikh and the other family Muslim, so it is probably not a religious thing.
But after yesterday's revelation about the Court official who 'took cash, mainly from ‘Asian brothers’ anything is possible.

The 'court cases' page of this particular newspaper does often look as though someone opened a big bag of Scrabble tiles on it.

"Could I possibly be right in suspecting that some sort of "deal" has been done here ?"

As Blueknight points out, the names don't seem to add up for that. But anything's possible.

Aashir Zeeshan?

No offence then.

To be honest with you, if he had hit my toddler then driven off, I wouldn't give evidence either. I'd want the bastard nice and accessable.
