Travellers invaded private land in Worcester before gatecrashing an aqua zumba class at a health and fitness centre.Nope, I’ve no idea what that is, either…
A club member who declined to be named, said three traveller men who looked to be in their late teens or early 20s, gained access to the aqua zumba class in the Nuffield Health pool on Wednesday evening.
She said: "Three of them jumped in the pool and started throwing the dumbbells around, generally being a pain and playing with the safety equipment. It was very annoying."Immediately, the West Mercia Police roll out Operation Soothe The Public Fears And Hit All The Buzzwords:
Inspector Jessica Loxley- Clark of West Mercia Police said: "Following reports of travellers in Perdiswell area of Worcester, close to the Bowl Extreme, West Mercia Police are monitoring the situation and have targeted patrols in the area.
The council are liaising with the businesses to resolve the situation as soon as possible. Some of the travellers have moved on, and there are currently six caravans in the area.
"There has been some concern from residents and businesses, and police have responded to incidents where people have tried to gain access to the facilities in Nuffield Health but there have been no other reports of criminality. Any reports of antisocial behaviour will be tackled robustly and positive action taken."The public, however, aren’t fooled:
I notice that the University have been on alert over this for the last 24 hours. The gates are all manned and various people have been inconvenienced. It all costs money and as a waste of resources. The police are hampered by procedure but to be honest they don't have a lot in interest in implementing what is available to them. You alway get comments like "oh Irish cars are a pain" when it comes to doing them for car tax etc. If you are assaulted by a gypsy you will get "Well we can knock on the doors of the caravans but no one will come forward and we will never find them" Basically you get apathy from the police because to be fair everyone vanishes before they can get a conviction for anything. From the publics point of view though I think most of us would be happy enough if they were inconvenienced enough to be run down to the station and bothered by the paperwork for an afternoon. If the police were willing (or in some cases allowed) to put the man hours into picking them up for everything they do that is illegal they would soon move on from Worcester and more than likely return less often.Well, quite. But as Rotherham has shown, the police care more for pleasing their politically correct bosses than they do about the rule of law.
