Oh Oh, You're In Hot Water Now....

Welcome to today's edition of 'Social Media Managers Do The Stupidest Things' and amazingly, it's not a police farce or government agency this time:

Yes, welcome to 2020, where instead of shilling for your business, big brands now demand you pass a purity test in order to purchase their products. Which in a market overflowing with other brands of tea, is a gutsy move, don't you think?

Well, it just so happens that I'm running low and have 'tea' on the shopping list for the weekend.

Thanks, unnamed social media manager, for helping me to make the right choice instead of lazily reaching for my usual brand without thinking...

Presumably these Corporations rushing to make mission statements supporting blm will be the same ones claiming to be battling climate change makes it easier to avoid them

James mentioned boycotts at his place the other day, now here's another brand for me to make a note of avoiding.

Fine I also will not be buying their tea again, a snotty attitude comes at a price even in today's UK.

And it will come back to bite them on the *rse as activists looking for a target demand proof of their sincerity.
"How many Black people do you employ Yorkshire Tea, how many are managers? How many are on your board of directors?

Is it now an essential part of every business to have a presence on social media? It seems to me to be a total minefield, if you don't piss off the normal people you piss off the woke youngsters. To me it would make sense to fire the social media person and stay well out of it.

Thanks for the tip. Yorkshire Tea are off my shopping list too - I don't want to buy from people who support racism or rioting.

By the way, PG Tips are also involved according to the Evening Standard.

I don't really think they do. The social media dept is just part of marketing and raising awareness of their product. They would have come out against the BLM protesters if they thought that would be more popular. Among tea drinkers I would have though it was, but what do I know?

I'm surprised PG Tips wasn't first to it. After all, film of the peaceful protesting practically presents them with ready-made adverts and we could all chuckle and remember the old days.

Oh, yes, no doubt.

Yes, appeasing the crocodile merely delays dinnertime...

"Is it now an essential part of every business to have a presence on social media?"

Yes. And not just them. Every agency and organisation has to have a presence.

The tea the monkeys drink...? ;)
