When ‘Secure’ Doesn’t Mean What You Think It Means…

A mentally ill killer has escaped from a secure hospital in north London.
Really? How ‘secure’?
The North London Clinic describes itself as a "medium secure environment".
Ah.

I guess it’s now changing that description to a ‘not at all secure’ environment, in order not to fall foul of the Advertising Standards Authority.

The Beeb webpage to which you link doesn't even specify whether the photo accompanying it relates to the escapee, or the guy he topped last year !
They really are useless, overpaid, and NuLab friendly- what a combination.

In The Daily Mail

A spokesman for the hospital is quoted as saying.
'Security and the safety of our patients and the community is at the forefront of our concerns

Note the word order, community last as always

Walking out doesn't seem too secure at all. Were they expected to walk back later?

You misunderstand. "Secure" means you can't get in.

I thought "medium secure" means that they put up a "No Exit" sign on all the doors.

Medium secure means they managed to work that they're down one headcase in less than two weeks.

Well worth the money we have to pay them, on pain of prison...

"Note the word order, community last as always"

Indeed. And why not? It's not like any odf the managers and doctors live in that community, is it?
