Today's 'It Was The Internet That Did It!' Story

A schoolgirl stabbed to death on her way to a party had a 'secret' ex-boyfriend she met on Facebook, it emerged last night.
Whew! Thank god it was that nasty, should-be-regulated-and-restricted Internet that caused this.

And not something far more unthinkable...

Bit both ways, really. It's hard to know about the internet - definitely no state regulation but at the same time - well, Foxy Knoxy was an internet phenomenon.

Poppycock. It was clearly the knife's fault.

I blame the ex myself, but then again I'm reasonably sensible and don't blame the internet for everything that happens in the world.

Bad workmen always blame their tools.

The internet is just a tool and how well or badly it is used is in the hands of the users.

The cause of the problem is the users address the cause. How? I will leave that up to the collective wisdom of the internet users. Somehow that collective wisdom has to harnessed.

Because she was on Facebook? I'm sure young, easily led thrill seekers did their thing long before that was invented.

"The internet is just a tool and how well or badly it is used is in the hands of the users."

Indeed. But that isn't going to be remembered, while people can see an advantage in painting it as the villian.

It's not always the internet; here a sex offender is blaming a lottery win:
