Police were called with complaints of about 200 rowdy youths on a street in Westcliff. This sort of thing often brings out the miscreants or their supporters to whinge about how they are portrayed.
Frightened residents in Prittlewell Chase told how youngsters were fighting, screaming and shouting, causing residents to fear for the safety of their families and property.
*gets popcorn in anticipation*
Ah. Didn’t have long to wait:
reece212, southend says...YEAH, STOP THAT, ‘ECHO’, S’NOT FAIR!
The newspaper really should get their facts right... Firstly... Nothing was thrown at any cars? Yes a small braul started outside a bus stop but was split up immediatly! and 7 cars... Yeah course there was. No there was only 4 and all the police done was move everyone on and check everyone was okay... The Paper just makes us teenagers look like mobs as a whole! instead of individually! maybe the ECHO should get their facts right and stop STEROTYPING US TEENAGERS!
This brings a predictable response from the commentariat, which only serves to enrage poor Reece to even higher levels of incoherence:
reece212, southend says...Yes, Reece suggests that everyone else needs to be more mature. I’m going to have to stop eating this popcorn, I’m in danger of choking…
Wow... so 11.30 is now classed as something like early hours of the morning? And for all of your infomation... parents did come and pick people up, funnily enough they don't all drive at 1000mph and it takes time to get there! I even spoke to the police officers they said they was just there to see everyone got home safe... A party ended and they was PREVENTING trouble form occuring... so one smal braul happened which noone was hurt in andwas splitup within a minute...but you telling me this is bad, not being funny have you been in the town when nightclubs close? Theres far more fights down there! All you people do is portray teenagers as mobs and alcoholics... Maybe you should all grow up and mature and start treating everyone else in the community with a little bit of respect! And I'll also have you know that most of us who attended that party do have jobs! So don't through that rubbish about saying we should be contributing to society... Remeber your not the only ones who pay tax mate!
Spledoink, Rayleigh says...Oh oh!
Reading the above, I would say that reece 212 would do better to stay in for a few evenings, brushing up on his command of the English language, rather than running the streets, causing problems for local residents, and then trying to justify it here.
reece212, southend says...Watch out, Southend!
Mate I'll speak how i want... You got a problem with that, then do one! You all slag and hate on us teens! Well To be honest, don't be surprised when one day we all turn around and say enough is enough! Its already starting... Look at the student riots! You say punish us kids... We was doing nothing wrong, the event was closed down by the venue managers, and police were called due to the capacity of people leaving and to help disperse them home! If you all woke up from the lying media you would see that!
As the words of the popular song go:
‘There’ll be trouble when the kids come out…’

Normally spelling and grammar are optional to me when I look for understanding of what someone has to say in writing, but reece212 isn't doing himself or his cause much good at all with that semi-incoherent rant.
All he had to do was keep it simple, say he was there that night and there was no trouble in the way it was described, not launch into an attack on all and sundry.
... one smal braul happened which noone was hurt ...
a braul is a romanian dance, (see http://www.eliznik.org.uk/RomaniaDance/braul.htm). I hope Mr Noone wasn't badly hurt whilst participating.
And the French have a dance called a 'branle' - translated as 'brawl'.
Which is all by the by, when a good day's shooting is the most effective method of decreasing the chav population of the UK.
Actually having read through all the comments I get the feeling that the teenagers are right. As is usual with any newspaper who is desperate to sell copy they most likely have hyped the story up no end.

You mean exercise some discretion and self-control? That's crazy talk!
"a braul is a romanian dance..."
He gets a few points for phonetic spelling, surely? ;)

Sadly, I think we'd run out of cartridges long before we ran out of chavs.

Well, it is the 'Echo'. But large, rowdy groups of teenagers are pretty intimidating in residential areas.
