The girlfriend who gave a false alibi for one of Keith Soons' murderers is set to walk free, despite being handed an 18-month prison term. But no, it's not the 'Pussy Pass' effect, it's the length of time it's taken for the case to come to court:
Jailing her for 18 months yesterday, Mr Justice Silber said Williams had "deliberately and dishonestly impeded the police investigation into the murder".Justice delayed is.... a free pass, of course!
But, having already served more than half her jail term since her arrest, the sentence means Williams will be released on licence in the coming days.
Eighteen months for this seems way, way too short to me, and once again, we see the automatic halving of the stated sentence which brings our justice system into so much disrepute...
The defence did try all the usual tricks to avoid even this paltry 'punishment' though:
Kannan Siva, for Williams, said she had "psychological problems" and was bullied into lying by Smith, with whom she had been in a relationship since Christmas 2010.Yeah, yeah, yeah...
