Better To Keep Your Mouth Shut And Be Thought A Fool...

The Southend 'Echo' can be a bit tongue in cheek sometimes. In the interview with the boyfriend of a recently convicted benefit cheat, this little gem:
Kevin Carlin, 32, is protesting the innocence of his girlfriend, Donna Connolly, who has been jailed for four years for her part in the wide-reaching plot.

He made his protests at their home in Norwich Avenue, Southend, in front of a widescreen television, Sky HD box and two computers. A brand new Renault Clio was parked outside.
Ooooh, burn...

So, how does this chap square her conviction with his protestations of her innocence?
He said: “She never made a dodgy claim. She let other people use her bank account and she would pay the people out of a banker’s draft.

“It was a conspiracy by other people involved.”
Well, that's not the most unlikely story I ever...

Oh. who am I kidding! Yes. Yes, it is.

It is quickly coming to a situation in the UK where dishonesty and corruption is the norm and law abiding citizens are going to be shunned by the rest of society.

In the book "The Welfare State We're In" it says the first victim of the welfare state is honesty...

How true.

Apologies for the repeats you must have thought you had tuned into the BBC.

Not my fault I hope and believe.

Broken Society, Broken Society, Broken Society.

How many times do I have to repeat it?

I think the problem with our lad is stupidity. Presumably on the same logic he would argue that a fence never steals.

We maybe shouldn't be so surprised at things like the expenses scandal...

"How true."

It would appears so, wouldn't it?
