Infallibility

The problem arose when Mrs Kerswell was telephoned by the surgery and informed that her kidney condition demanded an urgent urine test.
She told them she was perfectly healthy but the surgery insisted that her records showed she was a heavy smoker and suffered from Alzheimer's Disease, a kidney condition and had undergone a hysterectomy and a double hip replacement.
Well, who are you gonna believe, your computer system, or the actual patient herself?

It’s really a no-brainer for a doctor’s receptionist, isn't it?

If she has Alzheimers, maybe she has forgotten she is ill?? :)

This is easier to understand if you only realise that doctors' receptionists, with very few exceptions, know it all. Imagine a teenager who's been told repeatedly that he's important and you're getting there.

I think that Mrs Kerswell has been rather magnanimous over the whole thing and both Bedfordshire Plod and the little Hitler at the Surgery ought to be bloody grateful.

Just imagine that happening to one of our more easily offended fellow citizens or worse still, a Scouser - the bloody balloon would have gone up!

I'm heartened to see that she has registered with another Practice, she's got every reason to take her business elsewhere - because that's all it is thesedays.

I agree about Doctor's receptionists they are a pain who think that they have major medical knowledge. One once asked me whether a dislocated shoulder was painful and could it wait? A member of the Shadow Cabinet's mother was a receptionist in a doctor's surgery, he is now the Shadow Health Secretary.

I went to make an appointment recently and the receptionist asked me, "Witch Doctor?" I told her I knew the NHS liked to try new things out but I would be happy with my normal GP. She just looked at me.......

You are lucky to see your Doc. we have to wait 10 working days, just to get a telephone appt:, that's after the receptionist has asked you 6 times what is wrong with you. When you refuse to say they get very very upset, after all thats their gossip material gone out of the window.
