Yet Another Thing Not Due To ‘The Cuts’…

Last year more than 150 drivers were attacked in Brighton and Hove after customers revealed they had no money to pay the fare.
Yes, and..? I mean, is this not pretty common in any other ‘party town’?
Firms want Brighton and Hove City Council to pay for signs in every car to remind passengers not to assault their cabbie.
Oh. Right. I’m sure that’ll do the trick…
Andy Cheesman, from the Brighton and Hove Taxi Forum, said the problem – called “bilking” – had become worse in recent years. He said: “It must be something to do with the state of the economy.
“People get into the car but at the end of the journey they just say they haven’t got any money.”
And just how is this the fault of the economy?
He said: “They’re out of their brains half the time. They’ve spent their money on booze and drugs. “
Quite! So, nothing whatsoever to do with the economy! More to do with the type of people who are getting cabs late at night in Brighton.

And a familiar refrain...

Cab drivers should take money up front. No question.

It would help if they had machines like bus drivers that initiated where the people want to go and adhere to that. Then there would be minor disputes if that.

Been a heavy couple of days my friends. But rest assured, I will never succumb to dirty tactics or idiots that want to drive this country down. My ancestors did not give their lives for me to forget them, nor to shy away from hardship or deviousness.

Always in the name of truth and honesty will this country persevere. So, for those of you that are trying to destroy us for your own greed, just piss off.

Feral.

Ah, but what about the other half of the time when they're not pissed and/or high?

Oh good Feral's back. Two paragraphs about the subject and then two paragraphs about who knows what?
Brighton used to be such a nice town but it's great for the rest of us that don't live there to see socialism crash and burn.

"...signs in every car to remind passengers not to assault their cabbie.."

Presumably Brighton Council will soon consider issuing the vulnerable children in their care t-shirts with messages printed on them reminding paedophiles not to abuse them.

Oh dear. "No assaulting. It is illegal to assault in the vehicle"

You could even fine the drivers for not displaying them.

If someone assaults a cabbie they get a fifty quid fine. The cabbie gets a 2k fine for allowing the assault to take place in his cab.

Priceless.

So if there's no sign about not assaulting people, I'm allowed? YAY!

Seriously though, do they honestly think that a laminated card saying "Please don't beat me" is going to have any impact on a person who is likely to assault a driver ?

You know what's brilliant about this cunting government? When you send a complaint by email and it buffs you because of your email address.

They are fucking wankers.

Tip for the cabbies since the Council are acting like idiots - payment up front like they do in other towns.

Oh - and a refusal to carry Council members because they are so f**king useless.

"Cab drivers should take money up front. No question."

It would resolve a lot of issues, but not practical with no set route.

"Ah, but what about the other half of the time when they're not pissed and/or high?"

You assume they aren't all the time? In Brighton?!?

"You could even fine the drivers for not displaying them."

Heh! :)

"Seriously though, do they honestly think that a laminated card saying "Please don't beat me" is going to have any impact on a person who is likely to assault a driver ?"

Quite! And then there's the old adage about the more of these sort of posters there are up, the worse the customer service is likely to be...
