Justice System: Not Fit For Purpose

And then, there’s this….
Chisora attacked Iranian Miss Kontratchy, 24, after finding a message from another man on her iPhone, the court heard.

The 1.87m (6ft 1in) fighter pinned her to the bed at her flat in Maida Vale, north London, by both arms, slapped her across the face and then turned her over and beat her buttocks and legs.
Does he recognise what he did was unacceptable behaviour?
His fury was prompted by seeing her referred to as ‘babe’ in the text.
Guess not.

Usually, in this sorry tale, the victim would be adamant she didn’t want to press charges, because ‘he loves me really’. Not this one:
Giving evidence from behind a screen, a visibly distressed Miss Kontratchy said: ‘He came into the bedroom with my phone in his hands. He didn’t let me explain, he just grabbed me and started slapping me.
‘He grabbed both of my arms with both hands. I was lying down and he held me really hard because he has got strong hands.’
And despite arrest and charge, he’s not in the least aware of his crime and the seriousness of his behaviour:
During his assault trial, the fighter boasted of his boxing abilities, telling a magistrate: ‘I’m the best.’

Defending his actions, Chisora told City of Westminster magistrates ‘any man’ would have been angered by the text.

He was also charged with stealing the iPhone but bragged to the court he did not need to take it because ‘I could buy 60 of those’.
Perfect, no?

This chap’s going down for a long…

Oh:
However, a letter of mitigation from his promoter, Frank Warren, helped him escape with a 12-week sentence, suspended for two years.
Wait, what? Is it his first offence?
Chisora has two previous public order offences, three for assaulting a police officer and one of possession of an offensive weapon – a cosh.
Oh, FFS..!!

How the arresting officer doesn’t lose it and hurl a truncheon at the bewigged idiot in the judge’s seat I’ll never know…
Chisora is now clear to box Wladimir Klitschko in a world heavyweight bout.
Great!

Well, let’s hope Wladimir has daughters about the victim’s age and an absolutely devastating right-hook, because it’s the only ‘justice’ she’s going to get…

Oh FFS indeed - previous, no remorse, no punishment.

The law is indeed an ass and (most) of the people enforcing it 'holes it seems.

New look Britain. We do 'compassion' and 'understanding' and even 'mitigating circumstances' but we don't do 'justice.'

I am so pleased this fine upstanding young man can afford 60 iPhones. Perhaps when (hopefully) he gets thumped around the boxing ring he can call his many friends from his recovery bed and tell them how unlucky he was.

But then fighting someone your own size is different from hitting a woman, right?

Wonder how many "Fight" tickets found their way behind the Bench ??

Just pondering, you understand ...

At least you are not blaming the police for this result!
How frustrating it is for us to put these criminals before the court for them to basically get let off. Then we get the blame..

Of course these people could take his boxing licence away from him for this.

I was thinking about the mounds of evidence in this case as compared with the non-rape case, or Nico Bento where cops made it all up.
Why is this loon out and Frances Inglis in jail? How, if this is a fair verdict, did they originally jail Linda Walker, who was probably a victim?
I doubt we can really trust our CJS at all.

What a perfect way to advertise your fight. Of course, Mike Tyson is familiar with this promotional technique.

Paint yourself as the bad guy. Sky will be wetting themselves with the expected viewing figures.

I think this is all set up. It's far too close to his fight for it not to be.

Who is Dereck Chisora anyway?

Just as a matter of interest, has anybody ever called you 'babe'?

Please answer this question. I think it's important.

Hard to disagree - a more cut and dried case it's hard to imagine.

"I am so pleased this fine upstanding young man can afford 60 iPhones. Perhaps when (hopefully) he gets thumped around the boxing ring he can call his many friends from his recovery bed and tell them how unlucky he was."

Heh!

"Wonder how many "Fight" tickets found their way behind the Bench ??"

Interesting thought! Or, as BeeTee points out, it could well be a publicity stunt. Nothing would surprise me any more...

"At least you are not blaming the police for this result!"

No, credit where credit's due. This time, they did what they were supposed to. Others let them down.

"Of course these people could take his boxing licence away from him for this."

They could. Pretty sure they won't!

"I doubt we can really trust our CJS at all."

Not fit for purpose indeed.

"Just as a matter of interest, has anybody ever called you 'babe'?"

They have. But, sadly, not as many as have called me 'ducky'. Or 'Hey, you!'...

Just a thought Julia - if you find these examples so easily in the press, how many of them are there for real and is anyone 'official' taking count?

T o expect Justice from the courts of today is a little like expecting the Spanish Inquisition to knock politely on your door and offer you your choice of ice cream, free of charge!
Time these edifices were ripped down and some real people instituted as arbiters of the public 'good'

He should have asked her if she wanted a threesome.

I rather doubt it - you know what they say about the newspapers: 'Tomorrow's chip paper'.

Another progressive and enlightened magistrate. Good to see. Soon all will be progressive and enlightened and we will send no-one to prison, and we will have the Perfect Society all progressives crave.
