It takes up to eight hours, sets her back £50 a week and the mother of four has to get up at 5.30am to begin the mammoth journey each day.Oh, dear. What causes this? Do tell…
It has been forced on Mrs Abbas by a combination of her arthritis preventing her from driving and her local council’s intransigence.Ah. Right.
Absolutely nothing about the responsibility of Mrs Abbas and her husband not to outbreed their coping capacity, then?
Three of her children – Mehvish, 13, Kiran, seven, and Eliyza, six – attend different schools. Mrs Abbas says the local council has refused to help her transfer some of the children to the same school to ease her nightmarish routine.Well, how awful! Surely, that’s what we pay our rates for, isn’t it? To ensure that no-one has a stressful time getting their offspring to school?
Surely, the council should help her to…
Ah:
Her problems began in May last year when the family were offered a four-bedroom home after eight years on the council house waiting list.Right. Well, that’s something you should have figured out before you kept on churning out kids at the taxpayer’s expense, isn’t it, Shabnam?
After moving in, she discovered she would not be able to move her children to schools nearer their new home.

Maybe if she made her kids walk they'd be less likely to end up crippled with arthritis? I too lack sympathy, yet I find it difficult to imagine why three kids should end up at different schools. I note the dumb-trouble kid across the road is picked up by a bus. Can't see why we can't extend that for all kids out of reasonable walking distance, especially given the menace of Moms on the school run. The economics is simple.
Not in much agreement with you on anything today AP, but glad I dropped by.
Don't people help themselves anymore?
And as for "Nightmareish routine", talk about over exaggeration. Sure she means "bothersome Inconvenience".
Stone me, my sympathy goes out to Shabnam Abbas and something must be done quickly.
Can we expect that she cope with the stigma of infertility whilst most other families of no particular description are turning out six sprogs per decade? Must she also endure the cruelty of missing out on fruitful state grants and a personalised Land Rover?
I must say that it seems jolly hard luck all round.
Douglas Bader could not only drive he could pilot and operate a fighter plane over enemy territory and he didn't have any bloody legs. I recall a documentary some years ago about a woman born without arms and she could drive a car as well, using her feet.
Go figure as they say across the pond...
"a combination of her arthritis ..."
Best fuck off somewhere warm then, you muzzie piece of shit.
"Best fuck off somewhere warm then, you muzzie piece of shit."
She is probably hoping that Global Warming will save her from having to move to a less generous country....
Well, she should start by losing a bit of weight. The would help if she's got osteoarthritis. The arthritis clearly doesn't affect her hips as she's managed to abduct her legs at least three times.
I suspect the arthritis may be a little something that's put her "on the sick" and up the housing list, but doesn't affect her too much. I suspect, for example, she's quite capable of kneeling and touching the floor with her forehead five times a say
"Suspect"??? - A cast iron certainty, I would say...
"Not in much agreement with you on anything today AP, but glad I dropped by."
Life would be terribly boring if we all agreed on everything, wouldn't it? ;)
"Don't people help themselves anymore?"
Wash your mouth out!!
Self-reliance is so over....
"Must she also endure the cruelty of missing out on fruitful state grants and a personalised Land Rover?"
She claims inability to drive (though I'm firmly with Lynne on THAT score) so we'd have to cough up for a chauffeur as well...
"I recall a documentary some years ago about a woman born without arms and she could drive a car as well, using her feet."
Indeed. I suspect there's something else preventing her from driving.
"She is probably hoping that Global Warming will save her from having to move to a less generous country...."
Heh!
" I suspect, for example, she's quite capable of kneeling and touching the floor with her forehead five times a say"
Good point!
