A teenage girl has been arrested on suspicion of inciting religious hatred after allegedly burning an English language version of the Koran.Well, it would pretty much have to be, wouldn't it?
The 15-year-old was questioned and bailed by detectives last Friday after the alleged incident in the West Midlands.
She is also accused of posting video footage of the burning booklet on Facebook. That's a crime now? Destroying your own private property and filming it?
Naturally, a spokescreature was wheeled on to provide the usual justification for the hysterical overreaction and further debasement of our justice systen:
/golfclapThe spokesman for West Midlands Police added: 'The local neighbourhood team have strong links with the school and have been working closely with key partners from the community and the local authority to resolve the matter locally.
'West Midlands Police will investigate and monitor any crime reported by individuals who may have been targeted because of their disability, gender, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation or transgender.'
Yes, we all remember how you swung into action to defend abuses of the Christian/Jewish/Seventh Day Adventist faith, don't we? Sadly, for the West Midlands Poliice, there's only ever one faith that can be guaranteed a response from the thin blue line.
And as legal blogger David Allen Green points out, the difference in the handling of this instance here, when compared to the same issue in America with its strong constitutional protection for freedom of speech, does not show us in a good light...
So congratulations, WMP! You have achieved at least one accolade. You are so uniquely bungling, biased and incompetent you've earned your very own blog tag for all your future screw-ups. You beat even the Met to that 'honour'...

As far as I know, they are talking about an English translation of the Koran, which is not a Koran, or even a Quran. Tis only the Arabic version that is so, not that Plod diversity officers would kmow such things.
How about a "Spartacus burns a Koran" day?
And they wonder why the EDL has growing support.
The English are being forced to extremes by the corrupting power of the righteous.
Chuckles got there before me.
Is "inciting religious hatred" actually a crime? I thought that didn't go through. Recall Nick Griffin getting off (after a 1/2m quid investigation and trial - West Yorks Police this time) for saying nasty things about Islam. They tried to do him on the racial hatred thing. Pathetic. It was clear Griffin had chosen his words carefully on this score and had stuck to religion and not race.
So we can expect WMP to act equally swiftly when an Islamic extremist burns a copy of the Bible, or the British flag?
No, thought not.....
What a shame we still have a "Progressive" left-wing government. I'm sure if the Tories had got in they would have trashed all these Thought Crimes invented by previous bunch of crooks.
Oh well, maybe next time.
In the words of the excellent Dr. Richard North:
And the reason why we don't rise up and slaughter them is...?
Nulabor's 'diversity agenda' was broadcast loud and clear to the Police and other public bodies and now it infects them like a like a cancer.
Little wonder that after 13 yrs of brain washing, Senior Police Officers and Senior Public Officials behave like Pavlov's dogs when faced with certain types of 'racist incident'.
I predict a riot....
Any Brummies out there fancy taking up microdaves suggestion of burning a Bible outside

I wonder if the person who registered the complaint knew?
"How about a "Spartacus burns a Koran" day?"
Given how freezing it is out there this morning, I think you'd get a lot of volunteers, if only to keep warm!
"The English are being forced to extremes by the corrupting power of the righteous."
Exactly! And I'm beginning to wonder if that's the point...
"Is "inciting religious hatred" actually a crime? I thought that didn't go through. Recall Nick Griffin getting off..."
We'll see when (if?) this one goes to trial. I suspect charges will be dropped, however. AS DoB points out, this cannot end well...

Heh!
"...now it infects them like a like a cancer."
Indeed. Anyone hoping that the change of government would wreak an automatic 180 degree about-face in the public sector was fooling themselves.
I hate to say I told you so, but...
