Does The ‘Pussy Pass’ Get A Look In Here?

A "deceptive and deceitful" woman who disguised herself as a boy to date female Facebook friends has been warned by a court she could be jailed.
Perhaps they should sentence her as a male?
Probation and psychological reports found Barker suffered from autism spectrum disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, commonly known as ADHD.

"Miss Barker struggles to understand the motives and the intentions of others," said Ms Patel.

"(She) is a very vulnerable young woman who has self-harmed previously and would be at serious risk of suicide should she be given a custodial sentence."
Nice try. And usually, it’d be enough.

But the judge isn’t buying what you’re selling, and appears to have actually read the reports, for a change:
But the judge said: "I'm concerned that the Crown and I, and those who wrote these reports, are being manipulated by someone who is very deceptive and deceitful."

One report said the evidence demonstrated a sophisticated and complex planning of the offences, he added.

"These offences caused a great deal of harm to a number of people, and I'm certainly not closing my mind to a custodial sentence," said the judge.
And he was as good as his word, giving her two and a half years:
She received 30-month terms for the sexual assaults and three months for the fraud, the sentences to be concurrent.

The judge said Barker's guilty pleas were 'a complete reversal of the position you had held up until then', having previously used 'persistent lies and denials'.

Someone in need of a Why? chromosome.

Every second person in IT seems to think that they either have ADHD or some form of autism. My favourite response to these people when they use this as an excuse for being rude is .... "You're not autistic, you're just a c*nt"

I figure if they're properly autistic, it won't impact them, and if they're not, well, I proved my point.

Is that psychobabble for "fucking stupid"?

More to this than meets the eye. We lock up too many dimwits and people with other mental inabilities. Yet we also lack other means to deal with them and ADHD and such are often not much more than vapid excuses. On wonders how dangerous this prat was, given the propensity to offer axe murderers community service as wood-choppers.

@Anonymouslemming That's sensational. It should be on tee shirts.

The fraud bit is interesting. So if an author takes a nom de plume of the opposite gender to publish a sex novel is that fraud?

@Angry Exile

I'll get right on it. I'll have to leave the * in though, otherwise some copper will do a purchaser for a hate crime.

It does seem common these days to suggest that IT people show, to a greater or lesser extent, some elements of autism.

*sigh*.

It used to be much better.

In my day, if someone was said to be "On The Spectrum", all that meant was that he couldn't afford a Commodore 64.

The fraud bit is interesting.

Not as interesting as all that. It was a separate charge for trying to get compensation for a self-inflicted injury as part of the fantasy.

You have to wonder, though, about somebody who goes to the trouble of breaking her own jaw (the break was real) in order to substantiate a story.

She blamed it on one of her sock-it-to-me puppets.

Barking mad, more like.

I'm surprised her lawyer didn't declare that her client was a pre-op transsexual. The law would then not only have condoned her deception, but actually insisted that it was not a deception at all.

For some reason the Daily Mail moderators would not accept this comment. I've never figured out why they accept some comments and not others.

Nicely reasoned! :D

"On wonders how dangerous this prat was, given the propensity to offer axe murderers community service as wood-choppers."

A physical danger? Probably not (thought that broken jaw is worrying). Certainly a menace, though.

"The fraud bit is interesting. So if an author takes a nom de plume of the opposite gender to publish a sex novel is that fraud?"

I should have excerpted more to cover that little oddity. AS WoaR points out it was a bit more serious!

Heh!

Given no-one ever seems to check out the validity of the story proffered in mitigation, it would almost certainly have worked!
