Mad, Or Bad..?

A mental health patient who headbutted and bit a nurse has been jailed for 18 months.

Kristos Sofrianou, 25, attacked Dean Aldridge while staying at Clare House in Pound Lane, Bowers Gifford, on July 5, last year.
Yeah. That Clare House...
In mitigation, the court head Sofrianou had suffered a deeply deprived childhood.

Rebecca Lee, mitigating, said: “For a tiny child to be referred to a psychiatrist it is clear his problems are not of his own making.”
In which case, why is he transferred out of an insecure mental unit into a jail, rather than into a secure mental unit?
But in sentencing Sofrianou, Judge John Lodge said he would need to be carefully managed while incarcerated.
Well, he's going to be a lot more safely incarcerated in prison than he is at the colander-style Clare House. Unless he gets sent to an open prison. It'd never surprise me...

But why is he not sent to a properly secure mental facility?

Oh well, that excuses anything then.

It does seem to, these days.

But if he's a loon, why send him to prison? It's not their role to house loons, but criminals.
