Diane Abbott: Blacks Need Low-Skilled Jobs!

Diane Abbott puts her size ten feet firmly in her mouth in CiF (again):
It is a paradox of the history of British migration that, while the first generation of postwar black immigrants came to this country to work, unemployment among their children and grandchildren is stubbornly high.
And to what do you attribute this, Diane?
Structural changes in the economy mean that the type of blue-collar jobs that the first generation of migrants did no longer exists. When I was a child, areas like Willesden and Park Royal in north-west London were full of manufacturing and light-engineering factories. The large black community there owes its existence partly to just those employment opportunities. But these jobs have largely vanished from London.
Ah.

Right.

I see….
Now there are no job opportunities for young people without formal qualifications. A generation ago it was still possible to leave school at 16 and become a bank clerk, a nurse, a local government officer. Now many employers recruiting for similar roles demand a degree.
Seems to me that the solution to the ‘no formal qualifications’ problem is in their own hands, Diane; get some. It can't be 'racism' preventing this, can it? Look at the figures for Indian/Chinese second generation immigrants and educational qualifications...

Or perhaps you can fall back on threatening to riot instead?

Oh, wait. I see you have those bases coved already:
… the more unequal a society, the more unstable it is. And inequality with a racial dimension risks creating a time bomb. The immediate response to last summer's riots was (quite correctly) a call to restore order. But these figures are not irrelevant. Policymakers cannot afford to ignore black unemployment.
But they can afford to ignore white unemployment?

Oh, good grief, woman! Do you EVER think about what you’re saying?

Since her big mouth & her fat arse are completely interchangable, I seriously doubt that she does ..

Still, I'm not gonna knock her too much .. since between them, She & Milipede are doing a cracking job of ensuring that Labour will remain unelectable ..

Usual left wing idiocy dumb it down so the dumbest can benefit and the more able can pay for it socially and economically. Personal responsibility and effort not words to be found in the lexicon of the likes of Abbott only words like entitlement can be found there. For good measure cloak your selfishness, laziness and fecklessness in anti-racism and no one can challenge you or expose your own vitriolic racism.

And to think she put herself forward as a candidate for the party leadership!

Logic and Ms Abbott clearly parted company long ago. That's the trouble with having a permanent chip on your shoulder; it makes you walk in circles.

Ms Abbott seems to have forgotten (conveniently) that a chunk of that generation gap was under the aegis of NuLab, a party with a philosophy so corrupt and who were so socially inept that ordinary people don't count. Her party that drooled at the idea of 'qualifications' when the kids who couldn't be bovvered, innit, would never achieve anything but a watered down, valueless 'certificate.'

Now she looks round at her 'people' (because she sees only a divide between certain groups) and understands, dimly, that things aren't as promising as we were led to believe under 13 years of callous social engineering.

Still, if NuLab can get a leader and hoodwink enough voters they may get back to continue doing bugger all to help ordinary people.

Insulting tripe, as per. But hey, she did use the word 'paradox'. Whooo.

Race hustling aside, it is more than a little rich - as the previous commenter notes - that a 21st century Labour MP is moaning that everyone now needs 'formal qualifications' to get a job (other than the 'job' of politician, of course). Did any of them pay ANY attention to what they were doing for 13 years?

False modesty is reliant upon a 'haddock tale with bits' to supply your new crudities, Julia.

It must be terribly difficult to constrain your own language whilst entertaining the notion of an ethnic minority in this Country.

So please do not deny your new Met fans a few choice F and C words....if only to represent emphasis in a text assuredly hateful of all blacks.

That was of course partly due to her party's policies in Government

What are you smoking? Dislike on Diane Abbott is not racism - just common sense!!!

"Blacks need low-skilled jobs" .. eh ?

Best persuade them to get elected as MP's then ..

The only skills required are being able to keep a straight face, whilst lying through their teeth, over a protracted period of time ..

And being totally devoid of any form of morality or scruples ..

Once more the woman flounders in a multi-culti society. She squeaks: "Willesden and Park Royal in north-west London were full of manufacturing and light-engineering factories. The large black community there owes its existence partly to just those employment opportunities"

Stop there, lady.

The large community (often known as London) owes its existence to such places. That's right, lots of people of any colour getting work.

Why is she so concerned about one group benefitting from jobs? Surely an MP who represents people of all race and backgrounds, she should be concerned for job opportunities for all people?

Oh wait... she's a useless tub of lard who has a limited and narrow vision. Got it.

Ms Abbott is partly correct. Lots of low-skilled manual jobs have disappeared from London over the last few decades.

However, will she follow her thinking through to its logical (and reasonable) conclusion?

In other words, when will she start to demand an end to the mass immigration of cheap labour against which the young of her 'community' evidently find it hard to compete?

See what's happened here Julia? Melvin has appeared again and changed the subject to another anti-police rant on your blog.
How dare you not criticise the police!
How dare you allow different opinions to MTG!
I feel he is going to throw a tantrum and threaten never to appear on here any more.Of course he will be back the next day under a different name.
As a PC Melvin I apologise for having an opinion, shouldn't be allowed.
Why don't you start your own blog and then you can rant all you like about me.You can then censor comments like your half-wit bum chum does on AFTERWATT.
Good luck and see you soon.

The lowering of GCSE and A level marking standards, allied to the vast increase in the percentage going to University have made a degree available to just about anyone capable of spelling thier own name.

So raising the bar shouldn't be that hard should it Diane? Of course it was your party that...

Sigh! Diane Abbott is a prize fool, I'll bet she is giving Ed Millibland ulcers... which is no bad thing! Julia is right. If you don't have some qualifications THEN GET SOME!!

Unfortunately, there are few semi-skilled jobs that people can just walk into these days. This applies to all of the feckless youth that this country is breeding at present, regardless of the colour of their skin.

"And to think she put herself forward as a candidate for the party leadership!"

I bet a few people are looking at their current top man, and wishing she'd won! :)

" Her party that drooled at the idea of 'qualifications' when the kids who couldn't be bovvered, innit, would never achieve anything but a watered down, valueless 'certificate.'"

Precisely!

"...whilst entertaining the notion of an ethnic minority in this Country. "

Have you been to Hackney lately? Minority?

"In other words, when will she start to demand an end to the mass immigration of cheap labour against which the young of her 'community' evidently find it hard to compete?"

Well, she's not too keen on Scandinavian nursing staff... ;)
