Gosh, All Those Police Campaigns About Leaving Valuables In Cars, And Then This?

Lucas Cebataviciute was seen on CCTV taking the items from the vehicle in Normacot on February 8.

Prosecutor Clair Moss yesterday told North Staffordshire magistrates that the 20-year-old defendant said he had been to a friend's house and when he walked past the Fiat Punto he saw it was not locked.

He took a bag from the front seat and then returned for the sat nav, which he sold for £70 at a takeaway.
It was a police car...

Rank hypocrisy. Anyone can enter Crownhill police station through the back window...which is often left unlocked. Recent hauls include a digital thermometer, a purple click pen, an unwritten parking ticket, a plastic racing car toy, a set of car keys, a silver necklace and, of course, a cuddly toy.

Crooks stole a flat-screen television worth £250 from inside Plymouth’s Charles Cross police station – along with a pair of laces valued at £3.

Three unlocked police vehicles were stolen from Strathclyde Police whilst GMP left the keys in a £30,000 privately owned vehicle which was subsequently stolen from their 'secure' compound. Dogs were also stolen from police yards in Merseyside and Lancashire.

On more than one occasion,
Detective Chief Inspector Jim Colwell has embarrassed himself with "the security of police premises is a priority for the force".

So remember folks, Keep Valuables Secure and Don't Invite Crime.

Evenin' all.

A friend of mine is copper who once served at Bethnal Green Police station, one day she asked me to pick something up for her and drop it off to her at the nick, without thinking about it I entered the station through an open back gate and was able to enter the back door of the station and wander round without being challenged once.
Good thing I wasnt a terrorist eh?

I'd hope so!

"Dogs were also stolen from police yards in Merseyside and Lancashire."

Impounded fighting dogs?

It does indeed have a 'the biter bit' quality to it... ;)

"...and was able to enter the back door of the station and wander round without being challenged once."

Good grief!

Police quickly learn police stations are not a safe place to leave anything. I love the bit of noticing the car wasn't locked - as though we all walk past vehicles noting they aren't locked. How about a day trip to spot unlocked cars AP - sounds such fun!
