Mitigation - Just Phoning It In Now...

Bank worker Christopher Reed has been spared jail after stealing £7,000 from an 81-year-old customer.
He was in a 'low place' at the time and his debts were getting on top of him.
So the money went to pay debts?
"On October 1 he made two more transactions, a £3,650 credit transfer and a £3,490 debit, which was effectively money to buy a car."
He said he acted in panic and opportunistically. He thought the pensioner would not notice. He regretted his actions and felt sick as soon as he had done it.
So he confessed? Ha! No, of course not...
The court heard the theft came to light as the result of an internal investigation.
Stuart Muldoon, mitigating, said Reed had lost his job and now works in Hungary.
I’m sorry..? How is being – rightfully! – sacked for your actions some sort of ‘mitigation’?
Judge David Fletcher said he could just pull back from passing an immediate jail term and sentenced Reed to 16 months in prison, suspended for two years, with six months supervision and the maximum 300 hours unpaid work.
Is he going to be supervised by Hungarian probation officers then?

This shows a problem about open borders. He is working in Hungary - where the police probably know nothing about him and his Hungarian counterpart could be here.

So he's a greedy bastard. Perhaps he should join the tory party.

Oh, speaking of greedy bastards, just been reading about Iain Duncan Smith. Confronting the Archbishop of Canerbury's concerns, IDS stated...

"That same system trapped huge numbers, millions, in dependency, dependent on the state, unable, unwilling to work."

*Please note he said 'unable' and used this against the unable to work people.*

He continues, "What is moral or fair about that?"

MAYBE BECAUSE THEY ARE BLOODY WELL UNABLE TO WORK HITLER!?

IDS continues, " Getting people to work is the way to end child poverty. That's the moral and fair way to do it."

I agree, so create some bloody jobs for them to do and make sure they are able to fit in their family commitments and give them a decent wage and decent working environment.

THAT is the moral way to do it!

Christ, who is that man anyone to call anyone else lazy?

People are not cattle. They do not do what you want them to do because you may be an authority. You may be given power, but you WILL use it wisely and for the benefit of the people you are meant to do the best for. If you use that power for your own nasty greed, then it will be turned around and bite you on your fat, gold plated, shiny arse.

Much love.

Anonymous (Feral) at 12.51 21 March: I agree.

There's a vast difference between being unable to work or willing to work but can't find a job, and simply being unwilling to work.

In the same way as there's a vast difference between people who are asylum seekers, and illegal immigrants.

There's also a vast difference between those people who try to live their lives honestly and unselfishly, whatever their personal circumstances, and those who don't.

You misunderstand IDS. Unable to work in the sense they don't have the skills because they couldn't be bothered to get decent exams, talk properly, write, behave, develop a work ethic...

If there was a shortage of jobs how come so many immigrants seem to work in the NHS and service sector?

Indeed!

"I agree, so create some bloody jobs for them to do .."

Feral, the government doesn't create jobs. At least, not the sort we need, beyond a few vital functions.

Businesses create jobs - and they seem happy to employ people with the right skills and attitude. However...they aren't finding that amongst the English.

"If there was a shortage of jobs how come so many immigrants seem to work in the NHS and service sector?"

Spot on!

Because they are quite happy to take the low wages on offer and send it back to their families in different countries. They can then share houses rented out by unscrupulous landlords, living 15 to a room to reduce living costs. If they need something they can't afford, they can always nick some stuff or sell drugs or beat old ladies up.

Julia, you know very well this government should be creating business wealth to create jobs, so it IS the responsibility of the government to ensure jobs are forthcoming.

And I haven't misunderstood IDS at all. Imposing slave labour seems quite clear to me.
