Are You Sure You Mean That, Two-Tier?

People-smugglers should be treated like terrorists, Keir Starmer will say on Monday, as he hosts an international summit on organised migration crime in London.

Does he mean we should be employing them to advise the government? Or letting them intern in our spy HQ?

The summit is the latest initiative in the government’s attempts to cut irregular migration by targeting organised crime.

Ah, a new euphemism. Just what we need!

Ministers will mark the opening of the summit with a range of new policy measures, including £30m to tackle global trafficking routes and the flows of illicit money which fund them.

Until you do something to reverse the perverse pull factor that keeps them coming, you're just pissing taxpayers' money down the drain. Stop putting them up in hotels and supplying them with free food and medical treatment.

Detain them on the beach, then when you've got a plane full, fly them to Africa. How difficult do we have to make it?

I am sure Interpol, Mi5 and Mi6 could find out in one week flat:
who manufactures the dinghies (after all we have the boats)
to whom manufacturers sell
to whom are the boat dealers selling to

The pool of those people involved in France is probably less than 100.

The point is, they don't want to stop the boats.

If, as seems likely, most migrants who have arrived by illegal means, if not of a criminal persuasion themselves, are subsequently vulnerable to being blackmailed/extorted into criminal activity by trafficking gangs, did anyone consider investigating the potential consequences of government dispersal policies effectively seeding them into every sizeable community in the UK?

Anyone? Bueller?

Indeed! Or just back to France, to save on the avgas....

I genuinely believe they don't.

No, because they already know...

"save on the avgas.... "

I don't care about the avgas. Just want to send them so far away that they won't try again
