Hundreds of protesters have gone face-to-face with riot police in Epsom as they demand descriptions and CCTV of men suspected of raping a woman.

Someone on Twitter yesterday remarked that of all places, Epsom wouldn't have beeen the place they'd ecpected the revolution to start. But it has to start somewhere.

Protests broke out in the upmarket Surrey town just before 5pm on Wednesday amid a demand for answers from Surrey Police about a reported gang rape, which they claim the force has not released enough information about. It comes after a woman, in her 20s, said she was attacked between 2am and 4am on Saturday, April 11, outside the Epsom Methodist Church on Ashley Road.The force previously said a group of men had followed her after she left the nearby Labyrinth nightclub.

So they have CCTV… 

Several police officers remain in Epsom this evening as the force seeks to 'provide reassurance' to locals.

You’re not providing that anymore, what you’re providing is a reminder of your own irrelevance.

The force also urged people not to speculate about the descriptions of the suspects as they work to identify them.

They didn’t learn a single lesson from Southport, did they; no wonder, with spineless people like this one in charge:

East Surrey Chief Superintendent Mark Chapman said 'I appreciate that this may have caused concern to people in the town centre, and I would like to reassure you that our priority was to ensure the safety of the wider public, as well as the safety of those involved in the protest,' he added.

That’s why you brought out the riot squad in full kit, you know, the one you never see when terrorist supporters are holding up parts of London. 

'We respect the right to lawful protest and will facilitate this wherever possible where it is safe to do so. 

'However, criminal offences and public disorder will not be tolerated, and we will always take robust action against anyone who commits a criminal offence.

Except foreign rapists, who can act with impunity.
