They may have been, by her own admission, a little rambunctious.
For ‘rambunctious’, read ‘loud and bloody annoying’…
But Lisa Johnson is not so sure that she and ten of her female friends would have been asked to get off the Napa Valley Wine Train if they had been white.
At the weekend, Ms Johnson endured what they said was a humiliating experience after forced to get off the train for allegedly laughing and talking too loudly.
Of course, the Race Card is deployed at the first opportunity. Never mind the fact that anyone else probably wouldn’t have got
three warnings to tone it down before being ejected!
In a statement Sunday, Napa Valley Wine Train spokeswoman Kira Devitt said the company “received complaints from several parties in the same car and after three attempts from staff, requesting that the group keep the noise to an acceptable level, they were removed from the train and offered transportation back to the station in Napa.”
Fair enough!
“The train is set up to be with your friends, to drink wine and have a good time,” Johnson said. “We were thinking, ‘Who are we offending? ’”
The people who complained, dummy!

Jeez! They've had an apology too. Race card wins again
For some reason this story reminded me of an incident that happened when I was at primary school in the 1960s. One day there was a teacher short and a bunch of us were put into a class with some bigger kids. We were sat around tables in one corner of the room, each given a lump of plasticene to keep us amused and told to keep quiet. The little group around our table kept making a noise and, after being told a couple of times to keep quiet we were bundled off into the cloakroom and caned. I don't remember but I think that we were probably quiet after that.

"Jeez! They've had an apology too."
Quite! Shouldn't it be the other poor sods on the train getting the apology?
"I don't remember but I think that we were probably quiet after that."
