A dog has died after being attacked by a Staffordshire bull terrier.
The incident took place on a footpath near Nightingale Road in Pakefield between 2.25pm and 2.55pm on April 8.
I'd imagine owners believe at that time they will be safe to walk their pet without coming into contact with dangerous mutts but not on this occasion.
The Staffy, which was on a lead, bit a cockapoo, also on a lead, when it was being walked along the footpath near the beach.
Officers are asking anyone with any information to contact Suffolk Constabulary quoting the crime reference 37/20460/26.
Odd that the police are taking it seriously, when they usually do all they can to swerve dog-on-dog attacks, but enlightement, as ever, comes from social media below.
To the comments, where the usual defenders of vicious breeds show up:

Why stop at the dog?

Having owned a rescue Staffy, I can say that they are no more aggressive than any other strongly built breed. I will qualify that by adding that they need watching when around other dogs that are strangers and they also need a very firm reminder who is in charge.
Just this morning I was walking my Greyhound and met a woman walking her small, white ball of fluff, one of the toy breeds, which proceeded to fling itself at the Greyhound while snarling and yapping. Even the small ones can be aggressive unless properly controlled.
Worth mentioning that these don't always make the news or even a police report. 17th February this year, was driving home from walking my dog and saw an XL being restrained/beaten by two guys at the side of the road (Bootle, Merseyside).
Stopped to see if assistance was needed.
Then i noticed the Jack Russell in its jaws. It only released it when i sat down forcefully astride it. I'm a large, heavy, man. It sort of coughed the Jack up at that point.
Sadly too late for the Jack which was euthanized shortly after at a local vet (the Police did something useful here, they did take the dog to the vet).
Also sadly too late for the other Jack that had run off scared in the confusion. It ran Into traffic and was hit. Guy lost 2 pets in 5 minutes.
The interesting thing is that the police that attended took my details, but recorded them on his own phone.
Knowing the GDPR as I do, that was almost certainly an offence, but was perhaps done to avoid investigating.
At some point in the future I'm going to request information on this to see if it even made the official record.
It didn't see anything about it in the local news.
Good point
Bull breeds are an issue, and people would do well to remember why they are so names…
