Well, It’s Not Like He Has A Coherent Plan For Anything Else, Is It?

Keir Starmer has no coherent strategy to tackle entrenched inequalities harming the life chances of millions of people, the government’s social mobility commissioner has said.

Didn't really need the last 12 words, there, did they?

The Social Mobility Commission (SMC), a government advisory body, said big cities such as Manchester, Edinburgh and Bristol were starting to thrive but that opportunities were “overconcentrated”. In a Guardian interview, the commission’s chair, Alun Francis, urged Starmer to outline a bold vision to tackle “the defining social mobility challenge of our generation”.

Starmer has never been 'bold' in hie entire wretched life, and I suspect has never had any sort of vision eitther.

Francis praised government policies on devolution and housing, but said welfare reform and other proposals had been “stop-start”. “We’ve got other policies like growth, educational improvement where we’re just not sure where we’re going,” he said.

Down the Tubes, with this wretched mob in charge.

He also warned that without a “universal view” of what social mobility means, it risked being subsumed by diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) policies – an agenda that Nigel Farage’s Reform UK has characterised as “woke” and promised to dismantle. “To some degree it’s dropped into being a part of DEI because it does have some of those aspects,” he said. “But [social mobility] isn’t really a DEI policy. It’s more about an economic and social policy that’s about bringing the benefits to everybody.”

The #progressives will never give up DEI.

Maybe The Party Leadership Never Had Any Senses To Lose?

Oh dear, Labour has lost Owen Jones! What a calamity!
It’s rare to watch a political calamity advance with such gruesome inevitability. Rachel Reeves’s reported plan to shred Labour’s flagship tax pledge in the upcoming budget is so plainly disastrous that it invites the suspicion that the party leadership has completely lost its senses. But madness would be too generous an alibi for a faction that long ago abandoned any purpose beyond wielding icepicks against its own left.

As they always do! Rats fighting in a sack pause to watch with admiration as Labour party members show them how it's done...

Labour’s 2024 election campaign offered no story, no clear moral argument, no real sense of direction. That vacuum explains why, even after being handed power, thanks to the most shambolic government in modern British history, Labour mustered only a third of the vote. The tax pledge was one of the few recognisable threads of coherence. For example: “Labour will not put up your income tax, national insurance or VAT,” tweeted Reeves on 4 June 2024, denouncing the Conservatives as “the party of high tax”. A week later, Keir Starmer told Sky News in Grimsby: “We will not raise tax on working people.” The manifesto couldn’t be clearer: “Labour will not increase taxes on working people”, specifically citing national insurance, income tax and VAT.
Reeves is now considering a 2p increase in income tax...

 It is panto season, Owen, remember? So 'Oh no, she isn't!'

....believing a simultaneous cut in employee national insurance contributions will shield the government. It will do no such thing.

Nothing now will shield the excuse for a government.

Pull The Other One!

While it no doubt feels like a golden age for Trump and the super-rich, it doesn’t feel that way for 42 million Americans who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Snap) food benefits.
They just suffered through an alarming 10 days, with many saying they didn’t have enough money to feed their families because the Trump administration moved to halt Snap benefits for millions of Americans on 1 November.

Yes, we all saw the parade of grossly obese landwhales crying on Twitter that they were destined to starve (sometime in 2030...) if their benefits were cut. Strangely, that didn't sway many ordinary Americans whose taxes were paying for this sloth, dependency and laziness.

Just as it rings hollow over here with British taxpayers, when they see what the benefit classes are getting away with.

A Pantechnicon Of Popcorn Will Be Needed!

Yesterday, BBC chairman Samir Shah admitted to an 'error of judgment' over the editing but rejected claims of systemic bias and stopped short of issuing a direct apology to Mr Trump. He confirmed that he had received communication from the President's legal team and was considering making a formal apology. 'But he's a litigious fellow. So we should be prepared for all outcomes,' he added. A BBC spokesman said it 'will review the letter and respond directly in due course'.

It has responded. And now it can face the consequences.

In other developments yesterday:
  • A civil war broke out between the BBC board and its news operation over the impartiality row, with fingers being pointed from both sides;
  •  There were suggestions it may take as long as nine months to find a replacement for Mr Davie, but he is said to have 'had enough' and will look to relinquish the role sooner;
  •  The BBC was on alert for more possible resignations as critics called for a clear-out of executives;
  •  Downing Street acknowledged mistakes had been made but backed the corporation, despite growing calls to scrap the licence fee.

Could The Donald finally finish the hated telly tax for us? We can but hope!

The NHS Is Not Worth A Candle Anymore....

It's not just wholly captured by the transcultists, but by the 'politics of envy' crowd too.
The British Medical Association strongly advises pupils who want to be doctors that they need clinical work experience to even be considered for a medical degree. But now thousands of children, including those on bursaries – around a third of the estimated 650,000 private-school pupils in the UK – are struggling to find work experience at key hospitals.

And why? One reason. Ideology.

One would-be medical student from Emanuel School in south London was told by King's College Hospital Trust – their local NHS trust – that pupils from private schools were not admitted on to their courses, even if they lived in the area.And the MoS has learned of another, on a 100 per cent bursary, who 'applied to every hospital trust and GP practice within an hour of her home' including Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Northampton General Hospital and Milton Keynes University Hospital but 'received either rejections or no responses from almost all' because of the school she attends.

Labour'a war on private schools has been enthusiastically taken up by all the big NHS trusts, so they are ensuring where you went to school is the determinining factor in whether they take you on, all while they plaster their hospitals with 'anti-racism' propaganda.

Last night, Gordon West, head of careers at prestigious independent school Stowe, said: 'This young woman is not from a wealthy background at all; she's from one of the highest priority groups there are. 'Policies like King's College don't account for stories like hers. By excluding private-school kids, they also shut out students on 100 per cent bursaries, many of whom come from families with very limited means.' He added that it was a common story for sixth formers desperate for medical experience to be turned away.

Well, it's not like we need home-grown medical personnel, is it? Not when we can import them from the Third World?

Sources at NHS England said it was for individual trusts to allocate work experience placements.

Labour is a cancer in this country. And it's fully metastasised.
