But You Have Such Awful Values And Standards..

The BBC has said it has "no plans" to broadcast a BBC Three documentary series hosted by Ashley Cain after he was accused of using explicit sexist and misogynistic language in historic social media posts. A second series of Ashley Cain: Into the Danger Zone was commissioned and filmed earlier this year, but had not yet been scheduled for broadcast. The BBC said it has "no future projects" with Cain planned.

Ah, well, it's only licencepayer's money, plenty more where that came from, eh?

In a statement issued on Thursday night, a BBC spokesperson said: "The posts by Ashley Cain, albeit from many years ago, are completely unacceptable
"The BBC has clear requirements around vetting and social media checks, which are undertaken by the production company. In this instance, the process clearly failed and we are investigating why. We are continuing to strengthen our processes to ensure everyone working for, and on behalf of, the BBC meets our values and standards.

Your values and standards?  But they are far worse than anything this bloke is accused of! Tolerating smut on the radio if it pulls in listeners, employees playing Miss Marple on the clock, the slavish focus on progressive hobby-horses, and don't get me started on the nonce issue....

'It's Only Taxpayer Money' Pt 79248563217851

The Home Office is still unable to say when a planned communications system for Great Britain’s blue light services will be operational, despite spending almost £2bn on the project, the Whitehall spending watchdog has said.

Blimey, you could have built a few miles of a new railway line for that money!

The proposed emergency services network (ESN), first announced in 2015, was supposed to have replaced the ageing Airwave system for police, fire and ambulance services in England, Scotland and Wales by 2020.
However, the National Audit Office (NAO) says despite the turn-off date for Airwave having been extended twice, first to 2022 and then to 2026, the Home Office now admits it is likely to be later, although it cannot say when or how much it will cost.

It is to laugh, isn't it..?

It's Not Just The Fraudsters Who Are Shameless, Is It?

Shameless fraudsters have been using Photoshop in a bid to claim benefits in Britain while living aboard - as part of a multi-million pound scam.
One man was asked to take a photograph of himself by his front door after the DWP became suspicious that he was claiming benefits in the UK while living abroad.
...it's the DWP 'workers' who consider a photo of someone standing by a front door as any sort of 'evidence'!
The DWP told MailOnline they saw a surge in Universal Credit claims when the pandemic hit with more people needing support.
However, this caused an increase in fraudulent claims - partly driven by gangs seeking to take 'advantage' of a relaxation of the rules on applications.

Another thing to blame on the Covid hysterics and the government's reaction to it...

However, claims for applicants who were considered vulnerable were not blocked.

Of course!

Another Day, Another NHS Failure...

A doctor who killed a mother-of-three during a botched bone marrow biopsy left another patient permanently disabled three years earlier while carrying out the same treatment.

Ho hum, so run of the mill...

Dr Isyaka Mamman, 85...

Wait. What?

...previously left a patient disabled with mobility difficulties in another bone marrow biopsy. The NHS trust he worked for later admitted liability when the patient sued for damages. Dr Mamman was previously suspended by medical watchdogs for lying about his age.

Hmmm...

He was sacked but then re-employed by the Royal Oldham Hospital, where he was responsible for a series of critical incidents before the fatal appointment, Manchester Crown Court was told. The doctor had also used various dates of birth and left his previous job because of 'poor performance'.

So what's the issue over his age?

...his 'true age' is a matter of 'controversy', the court heard, as his birthplace in rural Nigeria had no system of birth registration.
During his medical training he gave a date of birth of September 16 1936, which meant that he was 21 years old when he began his medical training and 81 at the time of the fatal hospital incident.
But he knocked years off his age by adopting a birth date in 1941, provided to the NHS, suggesting he began his medical degree at the age of 16.
However, in about 2001 and approaching what was then the compulsory retirement age of 65, Dr Mamman adopted an even later birth date - October 1947 - which he relied upon in an application for naturalisation as a British citizen - suggesting he started his degree course at the age of 10.

It utterly beggars belief, doesn't it? Can no-one in the NHS count..?

Dr Mamman had left his previous employment with the Medway Trust because of 'poor performance', and in 2015 a formal complaint was made to the Oldham hospital when a patient complained he used 'excessive force' during a bone marrow biopsy. The patient was told that Dr Mamman was in his 70s and his colleagues thought he should retire but they could not dismiss him purely because of his age. They were assured he would be put on light duties in future.

Can no one in the NHS tell the truth, either..?

Michael Hayton, mitigating, said it was clear Dr Mamman was a 'failing' doctor and he should not have been allowed to continue treating patients. He added: 'He is not the only person at fault. He should not have been allowed to be in the position he was.
'There's a grotesque catalogue of failings by the trust from 2015.'

Keep clapping for them, people...

This Is What You Clapped For...Are You Satisfied?

Sarah Bryden is not allowed to visit 84-year-old Jean Donogue at Basildon Hospital, as patients are only allowed one named visitor because of Covid restrictions.
The 32-year-old Benfleet resident’s sister has been visiting every day – but hospital policy means Ms Bryden cannot see her nan, even on days when her sister does not visit.

Useless, paper-shuffling, heartless bureacrats. If you clapped during Lockdown 1, this is what you were applauding.

But wait, Julia. Maybe you're being too harsh? After all, she can see her grandmother when she recov...

Her grandmother, who was widowed 11 years ago, has been on Florence Nightingale Ward since falling ill two weeks ago two weeks ago. According to Ms Bryden doctors have told the family she “doesn’t have that long and is deteriorating”.

Ah.

Ms Bryden said: “I think it is totally and utterly wrong, why is this policy still in place when Covid rules have been relaxed by the Government?
“The hospital say the only time that I can come up there is when she is on her ‘death bed’, otherwise we can’t go up as a group. It’s ridiculous.”

You say 'ridiculous'. I say...well, no, better not. This is a family blog.

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust declined to comment.

Of course they did. They know they can't defend the indefensible.
