Just missing out on inclusion of this list, by virtue of being released in March after I'd already drawn it up, was Justin Heyward & Mike Batt's cover of 'Life In A Northern Town'...

Cover Me! 'The Man Who Sold The World'

Hadn't heard this old David Bowie song in ages, so was surprised to hear it on Radio Two last year, then thought 'Hang on, that's not the original!'...but it's a great cover, so well done, Nirvana, for breathing new life into it.

Cover Me! 'I Will Always Love You'

Whitney Houston's incomparable smash hit from 'The Bodyguard', one of the best films of the Eighties, and it's predecessor, Dolly Parton's original recording...

Cover Me! 'I Don't Want To Talk About It'

The incompable vocal talents of Rod Stewart (now Sir Rod Stewart) which until now I always thought was an original, but no, the original was recorded by Crazy Horse in the Seventies (surely the best decade for music)...

Cover Me! 'Hallelujah'

And now it's the turn of lugubrious dirge-creator Leonard Cohen's repertoire to get an absolute stand-out cover of 'Hallelujah' by the sadly short lived Jeff Buckley.

Next on my list is Gary Jules' incredible version of 'Mad World' from the movie 'Donnie Darko', along with the Tears for Fears original. 

Cover Me! 'MacArthur Park'

Decided on another musical series for 2025 and thought I'd post some of my favourite cover versions. So to start us off for January, here's Donna Summer's disco-style cover of the oddity that is 'MacArthur Park'. Along with the original.
