Good Luck With That, Counselor!

Jackson addressed the media after the hearing and asked people not to 'rush to judgment' about the case. 'This is a devastating tragedy that has befallen the Reiner family,' Jackson said.
Well, yes. Parents stabbed to death in a brutal murder by their addict son who now faces the death penalty is the very definition of a devestating tragedy.

Also, a scriptwriter is probably working something up for Netflix right now.
'There are very, very complex and serious issues that are associated with this case. These need to be thoroughly and very carefully dealt with.
'We ask that throughout this process you allow the system to move forward in the way that it was designed to move forward, not with a rush to judgment.'

Have you considered a plea for clemency on the basis he's an orphan, Jackson?

More Judges Like This One, Please!

A barrister refused to take a roadside breath test after she was stopped on suspicion of drink-driving on the grounds she had just had cosmetic surgery on her lips.
Rachel Tansey, 44, was pulled over after reports that her silver Range Rover was 'weaving around' a bypass at 20mph. But when police asked the lawyer to provide a breath sample, she only partially put her lips around the tube then cited cosmetic treatment the day before, a court heard.
The mother-of-three – who lives in a £1.4 million mansion in Formby, Merseyside – told officers: 'Do not tell me what I can and cannot do.
'I am doing my very best. It is like asking someone to jump up after a tummy tuck. I cannot do it.'

If - after reading that high-handed attempt at evading consequences - you have an image in your head of just what she looks like, you won't be disappointed.

After also refusing to submit to a blood test instead due to an undiagnosed phobia of needles, Tansey was charged with failing to provide breath and blood samples. At Sefton Magistrates' Court, she denied wrongdoing, insisting she had only been driving slowly as she had dropped a chicken wrap and been swilling mouthwash.

Ha ha ha ha! Well, no doubt she's seen other judges fall for such lame-ass excuses, so why not try her luck?

However, she is now facing a possible jail sentence after a judge accused her of trying to 'manipulate the situation' to her advantage and lacking 'any kind of credibility whatsoever'.

Ah, that's why. Not all judges are morons.

Convicting her of both charges of failing to provide samples of breath and blood, District Judge James Hatton told her: 'From the moment you got out of the car you attempted to manipulate this situation. 'You have tried to delay and delay and delay the officers. You tell the officers that you had nothing to drink. Clearly you had at least something to drink. You are a witness who lacks any kind of credibility whatsoever.'

Round of applause for his honour!

He bailed her for sentencing, saying a community order was 'likely', but he would leave 'all options open, including custody'.

I wonder what options her firm are holding open?

Not Lovin’ It

You'd think he'd be able to spot any lurking perverts, wouldn't you?

McDonald's workers have said they are still facing sexual abuse and harassment, a year after the boss promised to clean up behaviour at the fast-food chain. One 19-year-old worker, Matt, told the BBC some of his colleagues were scared of going into work, and that managers would "touch up" other members of staff.

Maybe that's why the Stratford Westfield branch seems to hire useless hijabis who can't get my order right?

The UK boss of McDonald's has been summoned on Tuesday to answer MPs' questions for a second time, including over claims of sexual abuse.

Does anyone ever refuse to go? I sure would. Let them fume and grandstand to an empty chair.

Mr Macrow told MPs then that the firm was taking action to improve working conditions, after the BBC uncovered widespread concerns over the treatment of staff. However, one current and two former workers from different parts of the country, claim that the restaurant audits that were promised, were stage-managed by the branches.More than 700 current and former junior employees are now taking legal action against the firm, accusing it of failing to protect them.

The only winners are going to be the lawyers. As always.

It Should Be A No-Brainer...

...but all it proves is this government is one of very, very little brain indeed:
Plans to cut the asylum backlog by sending questionnaires to refugees instead of conducting official interviews will demand that claimants reply in English within 20 working days or risk refusal, a leaked document shows.
The Home Office will on Thursday begin sending out copies of the 11-page document to about 12,000 people from Afghanistan, Eritrea, Libya, Syria and Yemen as part of Rishi Sunak’s plans to cut the “legacy backlog” of 92,000 asylum claims.
And who is to say the 'refugees' are going to be the ones to fill them in..?
The deadline has dismayed legal experts who say it places unreasonable demands on vulnerable people who will not be able to seek legal advice on time.

Do they mean the 'refugees'? Or the parasites who feed on these 'refugees' who won't be able to keep up with demand..?

If the latter, I only have one thing to say:

"O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"

The High Court today issued a warrant for the arrest of a prominent solicitor after she failed to attend a hearing to answer allegations of contempt of court.

You'll never guess who it is...!

The SRA, which earlier this month obtained an injunction to stop Khan ‘unlawfully’ acting as a lawyer through JFP, alleged Khan was in contempt of court by failing to comply with two High Court orders requiring her to deliver up client files.
Khan sought an adjournment of today’s committal hearing, claiming that she needed ‘emergency elective surgery’ – which Mr Justice Fancourt said was ‘a contradiction in terms’.

I get the feeling the judge is not disposed to give her the benefit of the doubt here...

She also said that she needed legal representation, although the SRA’s barrister Rupert Allen said Khan had previously been ‘categorical’ in saying she could represent herself.

Heh!

The judge said he had formed the view that ‘she will not voluntarily attend the court based on everything I have seen of her over the last month’. Fancourt said that the ‘only sensible option’ open to him was to issue a bench warrant, not backed for bail, to ‘have her arrested and brought to the court’. ‘It means she will be found and arrested and brought to the court,’ he added.

I bet every eye in every force is peeled, don't you, Reader?

The court heard that the committal hearing may be heard on Friday, if Khan can be found and brought to the court.

Wow! Better order in another pantechnicon of popcorn...
