Scotland Yard's most prolific sharpshooter has been secretly awarded £5,000 in damages for “hurt feelings” because a female police chief jokingly called him a “serial killer”.And why didn't the Met resolve this internally with a dressing down for both parties?
Sources say the Met agreed to the payout after an assessment that going to a tribunal would cost at least £150,000. A senior official said: “We made an economic decision to settle.”Congratulations! You've just made a rod for your own backs there.
What are you going to do when 'Killer' decides that he dosn't like the shade of blue in his uniform, or that his gun is too heavy? Or when Commander Akers decides that finding her quip unfunny is a result of the Met's 'institutionalised mysogyny' and demands her own £5000...?
Still, it's not the Met's money, really. Is it...?

I, frankly, would avoid insulting professional snipers myself.
Yeah, I bet Cmmdr Akers is very careful next time she boards a tube train... ;)
At least it's going to someone with a proper job for once. Besides, in so far as the top brass love their PC witch hunts, you have to enjoy the blowback.

True, very true... ;)
When I worked at Asda a few years ago, we once had a fellow shoot up allthe packets of cornflakes and rice krispies. It turned out he was a cereal killer...
