Another Candidate For Sterilisation…

Following on from Al Jahom’s lucky finds amidst the underclass, we have this sterling example of fatherhood:
A two-year boy shot in the neck with an air rifle by his father was critical but stable in hospital today.

Blake Lowing was injured when Jamie Lowing, 29, accidentally fired the gun at him in his family home in Lincolnshire.
Pity he wasn’t aiming it at his own groin instead of his offspring. Now, that would have been amusing!
Mr Lowing, who was arrested after Monday's incident, was released on bail to be by his son's bedside, Lincolnshire Police said.

It is thought he fired the gun without knowing it was loaded.
/facepalm

As QuietMan points out, you always assume they are loaded and act accordingly!

I regularly shoot children with my gun (honest!). Only way to enforce discipline these days. It's no excuse to say the thing was unloaded when you pop a few off (Linda Walker) or only ping in their general direction and miss after months of aggravation and the usual rude and unhelpful police inaction. Linda Walker, a stressed out, decent special needs person, was sent to one of our overcrowded gaols. What's scummo going to get? Firearms' training? My future excuse when Plod finally follows the trail of blood back chez moi, is going to be that I thought the German word for clock was Glock and I was only trying to give the little blighters the time of day.

Rule No 1 ...

"Never point a weapon at anyone .. even in jest" ..

This twat should have that forcibly tattooed on his forehead ...

I am having one of my stupid days because I cannot comprehend the text. Upon each reading I have the impression of a father shooting his two year old son in the neck.

Sorry to disagree Captain, but rule one should read

"never point a weapon at anyone you do not intend to kill"

Heh!

"This twat should have that forcibly tattooed on his forehead ..."

Backwards, I presume? Though there's no guarentee he can actually read, anyway...

Yup, it's definitely one of those stories...

Good point!

I've said this before, over a copper IIRC, but there is no such thing as an accidental discharge (of a gun). It is always, without exception, negligent and should be punished as such and in this case the punishment should be the same as for attempted murder.

If people want guns, I don't have a problem with the concept, then they have to live by the rules and consequences.

PS Word verification - WANCO. Are they trying to tell me something ;-)

Quite. But that would entail bringing personal respomnsibility back into the mix, and we're trying so hard to engineer that out, aren't we?
