Astonishing Things Seen In Local Newpapers…

Front page story in this week’s ‘Barking and Dagenham Post’:
Witnesses – including borough councillors – told the Post that around 20 far-right activists charged Crown House in Linton Road, Barking, before smashing windows and doors with rocks.
The chorus of disapproval is printed verbatim, as always, and as always, the usual suspects are all there:
Kelvin Williams, of Unite Against Facism (Ed: sic), who was in the building at the time, said:

“They started smashing frontage windows with rocks.

“They were wearing hoodies and covering their faces. This is a street strategy of thugs.”
Well, lord above, Kelvin, if anyone’s well-placed to know the strategy of thugs, it’s a member of the UAF!
Abbey ward Cllr Laila Butt, who was also at the meeting, said: “I was shocked to see racism in my home town after 20 years of living in Barking…”
Really, love? I really can’t think why it should shock you so much, unless you’ve had your head buried in your council papers for all of those twenty years.

Or perhaps, you don’t consider certain cases* to be ‘racism’?
Meeting organiser, Mayesbrook ward Cllr George Barratt, added: “It is very disturbing. Here we are living in Barking and Dagenham, which is a very peaceful place.”
Is it really? Would you like to suggest that to the family of Mr Singh? Or the victims of these two charmers?

Mind you, maybe it’s partly true, but only because a lot of those non-peaceful people commute to carry out their crime, rather than s*** on their own doorstep?

Bet they did it themselves for the publicity; quick smash of the window, pass the spliff round and wait for the police to arrive, ooh bad racists attacked us etctera!

How convenient a group of far-right hoodies smash windows while chanting their affiliation out loud.

Still, better that than people thinking they were mindless lefties, I suppose...

Seems extremely unlikley the attackers were EDF.

Firstly, very much not their style. Secondly, even it it was them, would they reveal their identity? I think not.

Interesting that there is a tacit acceptance of 'racism' even though the only outward verbal expression these supposed attackers made was to say 'EDL'...and as this was clearly a UAF meeting I'd say the EDL would be within their rights to do unto this particular other as it has tried to do to them on many occasions. They don't, as they say, like it up 'em.

EDF?

*is wondering why an energy supplier should be rioting nor why the Ukrainian Air Force should have a problem with it *

Seriously, who thinks up the names for these groups?

Well this is embarressing!

Shinar's comment has made me realise I had mixed up my TLA's ... I was thinking of the EDL. No idea who the EDF are, or if they even exist outside the vivid imaginations of the UAF.

@ Jiks , I wasn't having a dig. I once confused LDS (ie mormons) with LSD(a drug most mormons won't condone)....

Have you ever tried snorting two suited, polite, well mannered boys from Utah? It ain't easy and the high is crap too.

The EDL were there, but as Gordo said, it was the UAF who were throwing rocks, one one EDL member got his arm slashed as they were armed with a knife and other weapons, some with bats and they had rocks and bricks inside, when the EDL turned up it was only meant to be a disturbance to a meeting but ended up with doors and windows getting smashed at the venue.

More astonishing was the little headline top right - Dagenham OAP fears toilet tank will collapse on her head.

Wasn't the EDL that smashed up London during the student protests....

I wouldn't be a bit surprised!

"...one EDL member got his arm slashed as they were armed with a knife and other weapons, some with bats and they had rocks and bricks inside..."

Well, they left that little detail out of the paper, didn't they?

"More astonishing was the little headline top right - Dagenham OAP fears toilet tank will collapse on her head."

Heh! Now, that's a local newspaper story all right!
