A fraudster who dishonestly claimed £56,305 in benefits has had her sentence cut – because of her own personal difficulties.
Court of Appeal judges agreed to reduce the length of Phillipa Butler's suspended prison term after she challenged the original sentence.
*grinds teeth*
They ruled that Butler's nine-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, was too 'excessive'.
Instead the 44-year-old has now been sentenced to a six-month prison sentence, which is also suspended for 18 months.
Well, that was a good day’s work, eh, justice system?
During the March sentencing hearing, Recorder Patrick Thompson agreed to suspend Butler's prison sentence after hearing the defendant had mental health difficulties and was caring for her son who has learning difficulties.
And yet she was strangely unhampered by these ‘difficulties’ when it came to gaming the system…

the defendant is a loon and did not bother working, instead mopping up after her retarded son.
Two guaranteed perpetual Labour voters there, then.
What would be nice is for courts to actually ask for some proof when the same tedious mitigation is presented and by proof I don't mean a 10 minute chat with some Guardian reading feminazi social worker - mind you that's a bit of a tired stereotype these days, most likely a big fat shuffling Nigerian tart! I once met a household where everyone seemed to be the carer for another family member, ALL were enormous fat fucks!
Magistrates used to order defendants to be searched when they said they had no money on them to pay a small fine - the courts need to grow some balls.
How the HEL can a "Gohst sentence" (Ie "suspended" (I only WISH!...by the neck), have the SLIGHTEST effect on her day to day life?
UNLESS she means she can not fiddle the dole again for 18 months.
"Two guaranteed perpetual Labour voters there, then."
Indeed!
"What would be nice is for courts to actually ask for some proof..."
It would be nice, wouldn't it?

Heaven only knows!
