Obnoxio The Clown on
the hand behind the curtain:
"The resources of the civil service are being brought to bear: briefings, research (that we pay for!) and ready access for pro-EU journalists. They are also scrambling to come up with a half-assed plan for Brexit. It would not surprise me in the least if some last-minute excuse came along.
The civil service has already briefed that we're not losing any EU regulations. They are being cast into law, so that their precious empires are not destroyed, the way they should be."

Think that just about covers it.
I was told they were being cast into UK law so that they could then be debated and dropped; so a procedural thing. Was I misinformed? If so, I've got some eggs I want to share with Theresa.
The EU is not the problem as such; it is our weak willed MP’s implementing every fucking law with absolute obedience. The fucks then point to Jean Claude Drunker, hold up their hands and say: “weren’t me Guv”. Existing laws are not so much of a problem, how they will explain the bullshit going forward is the question.
That rather overstates it. Yes, civil servants draft the minutiae of the legislation, but ministers are not puppets, especially if it's an issue on which they or the public are deeply involved. They will certainly give the drafts critical appraisal. But it is true that there was no preparation for a leave vote, which is shocking.
No, that's just interim while we work out those we want to keep and build Singapore (or Geneva) on the Thames. The Swiss seem OK outside the EU. I'm sure we'll be fine. Going forward our regs will diverge from the EU to become more sensible and the EU will have toi start copying what we're doing or get left behind.
The more I do with Brexit the more optimistic I feel
I agree 100% with Anon @ 19.14

Think you might have to get in line!

Yes, that too.
"...but ministers are not puppets..."
I'd be inclined to agree, if I couldn't see the strings so very clearly...

I'm cautiously optimistic, but I fear there's more bumps in the road ahead yet.
