A petition signed by 1,500 people demanded the resignation of the entire council leadership, with resident Eve Wedderburn telling councillors: '"We do not recognise your right to govern our community.'That's not how we do things over here, old chap.
Relatives of those killed called for mass resignations, with survivor Mahad Egal telling councillors: ‘You have murdered us. There is manslaughter here... You have committed a crime against all of us here.’In this country, that's for the police and justice system to decide, not howling demagogues.
The meeting was later adjourned after Ms Jamalvatan collapsed and had to be treated by paramedics.
Earlier she had made an impassioned plea to the council for equal treatment for rich and poor in the affluent borough.
Waving the keys to her former flat in the tower, she said: ‘The UK is accusing other countries about a lack of human rights, but there are lots of people from those counties living in the UK. Why don’t you care about human rights here?’Where have your 'human rights' not been met, here? What sort of treatment do you think you'd have got in your home countries over a fire that burned you out of your home?
That's it. Enough is enough. But if Grenfell Tower has done one positive thing, it's got to be alerting a wider audience to the totally alien culture that's grown up, unnoticed, in our midst.
Sadly, I fear it's much too late to do anything about it.

Seriously? Look in the mirror and ask yourself why you are hating. Suppose your mother had been in the fire, would you be thinking differently.
We are done, and will go down with barely a whimper. If there is any justice, Heath is already paying for his betrayal of the British people. I hope that all those who continued his work - Blair, Brown, Cameron, May - join him soon or get their just deserts in this life, so we can at least derive some satisfaction as recompense for their treachery.
Wedderburn? Any relation to Bill Wedderburn, Baron Wedderburn of Charlton, see Wikipedia? If so, then very interesting....
Vividora, if my mother had been in that fire, I'm fairly certain that I wouldn't cast aside every last scrap of my dignity and screech incoherently at people whose help I want. Every minute officials spend prostrating themselves in a fruitless attempt to appease these howling ingrates is a minute they could have spent doing something productive. Seemingly, however, members of this particular 'community' believe that shelter, resources and infrastructure can be magicked into existence by merely uttering the incantation 'Gimme'. I should add that I feel equal contempt for the spineless authorities: are there no adults left in the country?

Yes I would both think and behave differently, not least because my mother and father brought me up to have a modicum of dignity, rationality and civility.
Vividora, my mother lived through the Liverpool blitz and our family house was home to many bombed out relatives all living on rations....never a word of complaint then or now......that's what being English does for you, real English.
So is it murder or manslaughter? Make your minds up.
There might be a case of manslaughter due to negligence, but that will be determined after an analysis of the evidence, not the baying of the mob. As for accusations of murder, if I had any sympathy left, it would evaporate at that point, but it can't as it's already long gone.
Just walking around in London is all it takes to see what has happened and what is still happening.

@Vivdora "Suppose your mother had been in the fire, would you be thinking differently."
Yes we did think and behave differently, not least because we have a modicum of dignity, rationality and civility. We stayed with friends for a few days whilst we found a property to rent.
No shrieking, howling, blaming, demanding etc. Our attitude was move on and make the best of what we have.
I've had enough of the behaviour of the 'residents' of the burned-out Grenfell Tower.
The entire country felt a great deal of sympathy for them initially, when pictures and video of the inferno were published. A number of organisations started to arrange collections of food, clothing, toys and money.
What was the reaction of the 'residents'? Screaming and shouting, making outrageous demands and making wild accusations about anyone and everyone trying to help them.
No, that is not acceptable, not by any means.
I would have expected at least a modicum of self-help, perhaps the organisation of 'residents' into a loose association so that they spoke with a common voice; but, no. All we have received is complete and utter ingratitude for what people have tried to do to help and the complete politicisation of a civil disaster.
My sympathy is spent. All I feel now is disgust at the behaviour being shown and the activities of behind-the-scenes so-called 'activists' who are determined to make this awful fire into a political charade.
@Vivdora
Anyone who really cared about their mother etc. would ensure that they did not live in one of those awful tower slums...
Anyway why can't the council buy a row of houses in Liverpool and give them to the 'victims', I am sure they will fit in just fine, and we would not be able to hear their constant whines over the background noise.
Compare this with the dignity of the parents and families of the Manchester murder victims, whose terrible losses could be blamed on the people who allowed the bombers parents into the country.
Insurance?
"Seriously? Look in the mirror and ask yourself why you are hating. "
'Hating'? Hating takes effort, love, and I've none to waste. This is contempt.
"We are done, and will go down with barely a whimper."
I fear you're correct.
"Any relation to Bill Wedderburn, Baron Wedderburn of Charlton, see Wikipedia?"
Well, well, well...
"So is it murder or manslaughter? Make your minds up."
That would be to assume that anything other than base emotion went into the calculation...
"Just walking around in London is all it takes to see what has happened and what is still happening."
I never understood the attraction of gated communities 20 years ago. I do now.
"I've had enough of the behaviour of the 'residents' of the burned-out Grenfell Tower. "
That's a pity, because all signs are that the Left will flog this dead horse into eternity...
"Compare this with the dignity of the parents and families of the Manchester murder victims..."
Spot on!
"Insurance?"
Incompatible with dependency culture and the 'society owes me' attitude.
