They Kinda Saved The Best 'Til Last....

Father William Haymaker, 63, was convicted of fraud after using the blue badge to park in a disabled bay in Western Road, Bexhill, in December 2015 – but it belonged to a woman who had died two months before.
Oops!
His sentencing at Hove Crown Court this morning was delayed by around 90 minutes while staff tried to find a working hearing aid for the priest who said he could not hear proceedings from the dock without it.
Hmmmm. How does he manage in the confessional?
Judge Christine Henson also ordered Haymaker to pay £3,700 in costs after she said his financial situation was “a little bit murky.”
She told Haymaker: “I don’t think this court has been appraised of the true picture of this financial situation.
“It is difficult to see what you are spending your money on.”
Presumably, not wine, women and song?
Haymaker, who was ordained in 1984, is a rector of St Paul’s Anglican Parish in Bexhill which is part of the Anglican Independent Communion. The court heard he has no connection to the Church of England and regularly travels to Moldova.
Reverend Peter Gadsen said there is no such church in the parish, and contacted The Argus to say Father Haymaker is in no way associated with St Paul’s Evangelical Free Church, Bexhill, where he is a minister.
Haymaker also claimed to have worked for many years at British Airways. But investigations by his legal team and prosecutors failed to find any evidence he ever worked for the airline, the court heard.
Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear....
He was again accompanied to court by his official clerical dog The Venerable Mr Piddles.

Just when I despair that Brexshite will be the final nail in the coffin of all things truly British, something like this story comes along to give me hope! Now please excuse me, I too have a keyboard that needs emptying of coffee (and somehow I need to extract the crumbs of digestive from my sinuses).

What a crazy world. Using a blue badge and having this punishment is a bit OTT when you look at other crimes and punishments. It just shows that you can get away with anything as long as you don't deprive the state of it odd couple of quid for anything, in this case parking.

?

The article is rather badly written. My thought was, does this guy work for that church or not? Having re-read it a few times, I'm guessing that churches with similar sounding names are making sure that they are not being associated with him. I also agree with Lord T, this seems to me to be a fairly trivial offence, inconsiderate parking basically. Why are worthless scumbags who are serial offenders being let off with a pat on the wrist while this guy gets the book thrown at him? Bringing the law into disrepute.

I suspect "Haymaker" is not his real name. Sounds more like a description of his dubious religious activities.

The Great British Eccentric will never go extinct....

Well, of course! The law can't abide the competition.

"...but he ticked so many boxes ... except the most important: competance."

Yup! We're starting to see the 'benefits' of diversity hiring more and more often now.

….And a liar at that. He claims he has a church BUT uses his house as an address for his church.. prior to getting caught i have seen him ALONE use disabled bays. He is a fraudster, he purchased his “title” and the dog who accompanies him everywhere apparently indicates when he is going to have a epileptic fit…BUT HE DRIVES?! he accepts monetary donations from shop staff that he uses for his apparent home in moldolva… if you look into this the hime is NOT his it’s owned by the government…because they only house the children for a short time before they are cast out onto the streets again. If it was privately funded they could stay there indefinitely.. This man is a fraud, his title is a fraud and his assistance dog a fraud. He tried to set up a neighbourhood watch group whilst charging the neighbours an extortionate fee to belong to, he also has lots of young boys in house sorry “church” (!?) which is a concern… this man should be corrected titled “father fraudster”
