The Mayor of Lewisham has added to criticism of police filmed using “excessive force” to arrest a black woman in the area.
Damien Egan said he was “shocked” by the footage, which showed six officers pinning down Kamyimsola Olatunjoye, 28, as she shouted “I can’t breathe” on May 9.Was he shocked because, if she could speak, she clearly could breathe?
No, of course not. There's #virtuesignalling to be done!
“We have been shocked by images of police using excessive force to arrest black people in Lewisham in recent weeks and we have been meeting with the police to ensure these instances are investigated, and that we receive information, by ethnicity, relating to the increase of stop and search during lockdown.”Maybe the increase is due to the actions of those targeted, rather than the actions of those targeting them?
But maybe I'm being too harsh, maybe some racist police jumped on this poor fragile flower as she was innocently walking down the street and...
Oh.
The Independent Office of Police Conduct has launched an investigation into Ms Olatunjoye’s arrest, who was charged with obstructing a drugs search.
She was travelling as a passenger in a car that failed to stop for police, Scotland Yard said.Guess not.

It takes 6 coppers to restrain a woman because they are trying not to hurt her seriously. It only takes one copper to bludgeon her with a truncheon until she's unconscious or scared shitless. Which would she prefer?
One on each limb to stop her lashing out. One to control the head is how we are taught.
That way minimises injuries on both sides.
But some experts will be on here later to tell me different.
The mayor is just playing to his core vote. Fully expected and sadly predictable. Lots of Lewisham is a horrible ghetto.

There will be thousands of lowlives all over Britain bellowing "I can't breathe!" as they are arrested and dozens of race-baiting politicians making a fuss about it.
Perhaps the coppers charged with policing Lewisham could be re-assigned to an area which would like to see more of a police presence? A neighbouring district gets to see the odd officer on the beat and Lewisham is freed from The Man. I'm sure it would go swimmingly.

Incredible...that six regulation-girth plod can get close enough to one individual to hold onto different anatomical parts of their victim. Unless of course, they are trained to pile on, multi-storey fashion...and just grab each other.
What is the UK record for holding plod 'nees' on a 'kneck' of no particular description, Jaded?
It appears that "I can't breathe" is now the complaint of note by people being arrested, taking precedence over "these f*cking cuffs are too tight", "he promised to let me go if I shagged him" and similar claims against Police.
We didn't have these video cameras on our uniforms, but I carried a privately purchased dictation machine which, on a number of occasions, provided proof to the rubber heels squad that I never said what the crim claimed.
I'm with the first two commenters.

If you are offering Melvin I'm sure there will be a very long queue to kneel on your neck. Hopefully I'll be at the front. I'm imagining you shouting out clever Latin phrases to get us off.

You have a deluded opinion of yourself by assuming I would address you in Latin, Jaded. Any words I may have used as part of everyday English or relevant Plautus, were intended for more 'educatid' readers. Since you have yet to master English, 'their' is no point baffling you with Latin or any language other than basic English.
Your abilities would be stretched comprehending English law relating to the posting of threatening messages. Read (slowly and in your own good time) section 1 of the Malicious Communications Act 1988 and section 127 of the Communications Act 2003.
Nothing like playing the race card, every jumped up politico will be on your side. Welcome to modern Britain.
Feel free to report me Melvin. You have a long history of suing the police so this will be yet another victory for you.
Read section 1 of "Bullshitting by a Mental Patient Act of 2020" as a reminder that we are still waiting to hear of your previous court appearances.

For balance there was a Black lady taken down by Police during the End Lockdown rally.
This was just before "I can't breath" became a thing do she was using the old scream like a banshee for no obvious reason.

Have no fears that your posts are being ignored, dear. As an interminable provenience of rambling and dumb ideas, your comments reassure an aging population that we are still mentally out-performing the likes of you. Such maundering thoughts, as those you post to screen, completely dispel septuagenarians' personal worries re the onset of dementia-related disorders and their effect on our own communication skills.
Should have lit the bitch up with a Taser and then pointed out that actually only one copper did the 'cuff and stuff'
"Which would she prefer?"
To hell with her, I know which I'D prefer!
"The mayor is just playing to his core vote."
I wonder how many of them do bother? I suppose at least they can make a cross in a box if they can get up in time...
"A neighbouring district gets to see the odd officer on the beat and Lewisham is freed from The Man. I'm sure it would go swimmingly."
How's it going across the pond..? :)
"...I carried a privately purchased dictation machine which, on a number of occasions, provided proof to the rubber heels squad that I never said what the crim claimed"
Yes, no wonder body cameras are a prosecutor's best friend!
"Should have lit the bitch up with a Taser and then pointed out that actually only one copper did the 'cuff and stuff'"
Until the battery ran dry!
